Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Remove the Lower Splash Shield

- Use a 10mm socket to remove any splash shield bolts.
- Lower the shield and set it aside.
- Keep clips grouped by location.

- Use a torque wrench, 5-80 Nm range to tighten the water pump bolts to Torque to 20-24 Nm (15-18 ft-lbs).
- Start bolts by hand first.
Step 9: Reinstall the Water Pump Pulley
- Place the pulley onto the new water pump hub by hand.
- Start the pulley bolts by hand.
- Use a 10mm socket to snug the pulley bolts.
- Use a torque wrench, 5-80 Nm range to tighten the pulley bolts to Torque to 8-12 Nm (71-106 in-lbs).
Step 10: Reinstall Brackets and Serpentine Belt
- Use a 10mm socket, 12mm socket, or 14mm socket to reinstall any brackets removed earlier.
- Use a torque wrench, 5-80 Nm range to tighten small bracket bolts to Torque to 18-25 Nm (13-18 ft-lbs) unless the bracket uses larger bolts.
- Route the serpentine belt around all pulleys except the easiest smooth pulley or water pump pulley.
- Use a 14mm box-end wrench or 14mm socket to rotate the tensioner.
- Slip the belt onto the final pulley, then slowly release the tensioner.
- Check every pulley groove to make sure the belt ribs are seated correctly.
Step 11: Refill the Cooling System
- Install a coolant funnel kit into the radiator neck.
- Add Hyundai-compatible coolant concentrate or premixed coolant.
- If using concentrate, mix it 50/50 with distilled water before filling.
- Fill slowly until the radiator stays full.
- Fill the coolant reservoir to the “FULL” mark.
Step 12: Bleed Air from the Cooling System
- Reconnect the negative battery cable using a 10mm socket.
- Set the cabin heater controls to full hot and low fan speed.
- Start the engine and let it idle with the coolant funnel kit installed.
- Watch for air bubbles rising through the funnel as the engine warms up.
- When the radiator fan cycles on and warm air blows from the vents, top off the coolant as needed.
- Install the radiator cap by hand once the coolant level stabilizes.
