📋 Before You Begin
- 📍 Park your Sienna on firm, level ground. Shift into Park and apply the parking brake.

- 📍 Open the hood and photograph the original belt routing with a phone before removing anything.
- 📍 Check the factory routing label in the engine compartment. Follow that label if it differs from your photograph.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Loosen the Right-Front Wheel
- Use a 21mm deep socket and 1/2-inch-drive breaker bar to loosen each right-front wheel nut about one-half turn.
- Do not remove the wheel nuts while the tire is supporting the vehicle.
Step 2: Raise and Support the Vehicle
- Use the floor jack rated 2-ton minimum at the specified front jacking point.
- Place the jack stand rated 2-ton minimum under the reinforced right-front support point, then lower your Sienna securely onto it.
- Gently push the body to confirm it is stable before working near the wheel opening.
Step 3: Remove the Right-Front Wheel
- Use the 21mm deep socket and 1/2-inch-drive breaker bar to remove the loosened wheel nuts.
- Remove the wheel and slide it beneath the side of your Sienna as an additional safety measure.
Step 4: Open the Belt Access Area
- Use the flat-blade trim-clip remover to release the clips securing the right-front engine splash shield.
- Move or remove the shield section needed to expose the crankshaft pulley, belt, and automatic tensioner.
- An automatic tensioner is a spring-loaded arm that keeps the belt tight while the engine runs.
- Use the LED inspection light to identify the belt path and compare it with your photograph and factory routing label.
Step 5: Inspect the Existing Routing
- Use the LED inspection light to verify which pulleys are grooved and which are smooth.
- The ribbed side of the belt must contact grooved pulleys. The flat back of the belt must contact smooth pulleys.
- Confirm the belt routing before releasing tension. A routing photo prevents installation mistakes.
Step 6: Release Belt Tension
- Fit the 14mm six-point socket and 3/8-inch-drive long-handle ratchet securely onto the tensioner hex.
- Slowly rotate the tensioner clockwise, viewed from the right-front wheel opening, to unload the belt.
- Hold the tensioner firmly and slip the belt off one easy-to-reach smooth pulley.
- Slowly return the tensioner to its resting position. Do not allow it to snap back.
Step 7: Remove and Inspect the Old Belt
- Remove the belt from the remaining pulleys by hand while using the LED inspection light to watch the tight spaces.
- Check the old belt for cracks, missing ribs, frayed edges, glazing, or oil contamination.
- Spin accessible idler pulleys by hand. Replace a pulley or tensioner before continuing if it feels rough, loose, or noisy.
Step 8: Route the New Belt
- Route the new belt around every pulley except one easily reached smooth pulley.
- Follow the factory routing label and your photograph exactly.
- Use the LED inspection light to confirm every belt rib is seated inside its matching pulley groove.
- Keep the belt centered on every smooth pulley. Leave the easiest smooth pulley until last.
Step 9: Install the Belt Over the Final Pulley
- Use the 14mm six-point socket and 3/8-inch-drive long-handle ratchet to rotate the tensioner clockwise again.
- Slip the belt over the final smooth pulley by hand.
- Slowly release the tensioner until it applies full tension to the belt.
- Remove the ratchet and socket from the engine compartment immediately.
Step 10: Verify Belt Alignment
- Use the LED inspection light to inspect every pulley from above and through the wheel opening.
- Confirm no rib is riding on a pulley edge and the belt is not twisted.
- If alignment is incorrect, use the 14mm six-point socket and 3/8-inch-drive long-handle ratchet to release tension and reposition the belt.
Step 11: Reinstall the Splash Shield
- Position the splash shield and install its clips by hand.
- Use the flat-blade trim-clip remover only as needed to align stubborn clip holes without damaging the shield.
- Replace any clip that is cracked, stretched, or missing.
Step 12: Reinstall the Wheel
- Install the wheel and start all wheel nuts by hand to prevent crossed threads.
- Use the 21mm deep socket and 1/2-inch-drive breaker bar to snug the nuts lightly in a crisscross pattern.
- Use the floor jack rated 2-ton minimum to raise your Sienna, remove the jack stand, and lower the tire to the ground.
- Use the 21mm deep socket and 1/2-inch-drive torque wrench rated to 150 Nm to tighten the wheel nuts in a crisscross pattern: Torque to 103 Nm (76 ft-lbs).
✅ After Repair
- ✅ Remove all tools, the wheel chocks, and the old belt from the work area.
- ✅ From a safe distance, start the engine and observe the belt for 20-30 seconds. It should run centered without jumping or wandering.
- ✅ Switch the air conditioning on and listen for squealing, chirping, rattling, or knocking.
- ✅ Shut the engine off immediately if the belt runs off-center or makes unusual noise. Recheck its routing and rib alignment after all moving parts stop.
- ✅ Recheck the right-front wheel-nut torque after approximately 50-100 km.
