Step 1: Open the Hood and Locate the Belt

- Identify the crankshaft pulley at the bottom, the alternator, water-pump pulley, idler pulley, and spring-loaded tensioner.

- If the underhood label is missing, draw the routing before removing the belt.

Step 4: Release Belt Tension
- Wear mechanic gloves and safety glasses before loading the tensioner.
- Install a 15mm shallow socket on the 1/2-inch drive serpentine belt tool.
- Place the socket squarely on the tensioner’s hex drive point.
- Slowly rotate the tensioner clockwise to remove tension from the belt. Do not force it beyond its stop.
- While holding the tool securely, slide the belt off an easy-to-reach smooth pulley with your free hand.
- Slowly return the tensioner to its resting position. Never let it snap back.
Step 5: Remove and Inspect the Old Belt

- Keep the belt completely clear of the separate A/C stretch belt.
Step 8: Load the Tensioner and Finish Installation
- Use the 15mm shallow socket and 1/2-inch drive serpentine belt tool to rotate the tensioner clockwise again.
- Slide the belt over the final smooth pulley by hand without placing fingers between the belt and pulley.
- Slowly release the serpentine belt tool so the tensioner applies belt tension.
- Remove the tool and use an LED work light to inspect the entire route.
- No fasteners are removed from the tensioner, so there is no belt-replacement torque specification.
Step 9: Reinstall the Air-Intake Duct
- Position the intake duct fully onto its connections by hand.
- Reconnect any retaining clip or electrical connector removed earlier.
- Use the 8mm socket, 6-inch extension, and 1/4-inch drive ratchet to snug the duct clamps securely.
- Do not overtighten the clamps; stop when the duct cannot rotate or pull free.
Step 10: Perform a Final Hand Check
- Use an LED work light to confirm that the belt follows the factory diagram.
- Check that all belt ribs are centered in every grooved pulley.
- Confirm the belt is not riding on a pulley edge or trapped behind a pulley.
