• If the label is missing or hard to read, use your phone photo as the routing guide.

Step 2: Remove Any Obstructing Cover if Needed

• If the upper engine cover blocks your view, use a 10mm socket and 3/8-inch drive ratchet to remove any retaining fasteners.
• Lift the cover straight up and set it aside.
• Keep bolts in a small cup so they do not fall into the engine bay.

Step 3: Find the Belt Tensioner

• Use the work light to locate the automatic belt tensioner.
• On your Corolla, the tensioner pulley sits against the serpentine belt and is moved with a wrench on the tensioner’s hex-shaped boss or pulley bolt area.

• Slide the new belt over the final pulley.
• Slowly release the tensioner until it applies pressure to the belt.
• Remove the wrench or serpentine belt tool from the engine bay.

Step 9: Verify Belt Alignment

• Use the work light to inspect every pulley.
• Make sure the belt is centered on each pulley.
• Make sure all belt ribs are fully seated in the pulley grooves.
• If the belt is one groove off, use the 14mm box-end wrench to release tension and reposition it.
• There are no mounting bolts removed for the belt itself, so no belt fastener torque is required.

Step 10: Reinstall Any Removed Cover

• If you removed an engine cover, reinstall it using the 10mm socket and 3/8-inch drive ratchet.
• Tighten small cover fasteners snugly by hand only.
• Do not overtighten plastic cover fasteners.
