- Park on a level surface and set the parking brake.
- Put the transmission in Park.
- Open the rear liftgate for access to the tail lamp fasteners.
- Tip: Test the bulb first so you know which side is out.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the liftgate and access the tail lamp fasteners
- Open the rear liftgate.
- Locate the two fasteners on the inside edge of the tail lamp housing.
- Use a 7mm socket and ratchet to remove the fasteners.
Step 2: Remove the tail lamp assembly
- Pull the tail lamp straight rearward to release the alignment pins.
- If it sticks, use a trim panel tool carefully at the edge.
- Tip: Pull straight back, not sideways.
Step 3: Remove the bulb socket
- Find the rear turn signal bulb socket on the back of the lamp assembly.
- Twist the socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it out.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new amber rear turn signal bulb into the socket.
- Make sure it is fully seated.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and tail lamp
- Insert the socket back into the lamp housing.
- Twist it clockwise until it locks.
- Align the tail lamp pins with the body and press the lamp into place.
- Reinstall the two 7mm fasteners.
Step 6: Test the turn signal
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the rear turn signal and confirm it flashes normally.
- Check the opposite side too so you know the lamp is seated correctly.
