🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Locate the MAF Sensor
- Find the small electrical sensor installed in the upper portion of the air-cleaner housing.

- Use a clean microfiber cloth to wipe loose dirt from around the sensor.
Step 2: Disconnect the Electrical Connector

Step 7: Tighten the Sensor Screws
- Tighten the two screws evenly with the Phillips #2 screwdriver until the sensor flange sits flat.

- If the replacement manufacturer supplies a torque specification, use the inch-pound torque wrench and Phillips #2 torque bit to follow it exactly.
- Otherwise, stop as soon as both screws are lightly seated. Don’t crush the plastic flange.
Step 8: Reconnect the Wiring
- Inspect the connector for bent terminals, moisture, or corrosion.
- Push the connector straight onto the new sensor until its locking tab clicks.
- Pull back lightly on the connector body to verify that it’s locked.
- Check that no wiring is pinched against the air-cleaner housing.
Step 9: Clear Stored Fault Codes
- Connect the OBD-II scan tool to the diagnostic connector beneath the driver’s side dashboard.
- Switch the ignition on without starting the engine.
