📋 Before You Begin
- Park your Odyssey on level ground and shift to Park.
- Set the parking brake.

Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Disconnect the Battery
- Put on safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
- Use a 10mm socket and 1/4-inch ratchet to loosen the negative battery cable clamp.
- Lift the negative cable off the battery terminal and move it aside so it cannot spring back.
- Negative is usually marked with a minus sign.
Step 2: Locate the MAF Sensor
- Stand at the front of your Odyssey and look at the air filter box on the driver-side/front area of the engine bay.
- Find the black plastic intake tube that runs from the air filter box toward the engine.
- The MAF sensor is mounted in that intake tube/air cleaner outlet area and has an electrical connector plugged into it.
Step 3: Unplug the Electrical Connector
- Press the locking tab on the MAF connector with your finger.
- If the tab is stuck, use a small flat-blade screwdriver to gently lift the connector lock while pulling the connector straight back.
- Do not pull on the wires. Pull only on the plastic connector body.
- Gentle pressure prevents broken connector tabs.
Step 4: Remove the Old MAF Sensor
- Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the two screws holding the MAF sensor to the intake tube.
- Keep the screws in a safe place if the new sensor does not include replacements.
- Pull the MAF sensor straight out of the intake tube.
- If it feels stuck, gently wiggle it by hand while pulling upward. Do not pry against the plastic housing.
Step 5: Install the New MAF Sensor
- Compare the new mass air flow sensor with the old one to make sure the shape and connector match.
- Carefully insert the new MAF sensor into the intake tube in the same orientation as the old sensor.
- Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to reinstall the two mounting screws.
- Tighten the screws snugly by hand only. Do not overtighten because the intake housing is plastic.
- Torque to 1.5-2.0 Nm (13-18 in-lbs) if using an inch-pound torque tool.
Step 6: Reconnect the Electrical Connector
- Push the MAF electrical connector straight onto the new sensor until it clicks.
- Lightly tug the connector body by hand to confirm it is locked in place.
Step 7: Reconnect the Battery
- Place the negative battery cable back onto the battery terminal.
- Use a 10mm socket and 1/4-inch ratchet to tighten the clamp.
- Torque to 5.4 Nm (48 in-lbs).
- Make sure the cable cannot twist or lift off by hand.
Step 8: Clear Codes and Check Operation
- Plug the OBD-II scan tool into the diagnostic port under the driver-side dashboard.
- Turn the ignition ON without starting the engine.
- Use the OBD-II scan tool to clear stored engine codes.
- Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
- Watch for a smooth idle and make sure the check engine light does not immediately return.
