🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the front door panel

• Use the 7mm socket to remove the screws around the door pull and lower trim area.
• Use the door panel trim tool to pop the retaining clips around the perimeter of the panel.
• Lift the panel straight up to unhook it from the top window ledge.
• Disconnect the switch connector and any courtesy light connector before setting the panel aside.

Step 2: Remove the moisture barrier

• Use the flat plastic trim tool to carefully peel back the vapor barrier without tearing it.
• Keep the adhesive clean so you can reuse the barrier during reassembly.
• Do not rip the vapor barrier.

Step 3: Secure the glass

• If the glass is still movable, use the window switch briefly with the battery still connected to position the glass where the regulator bolts or clips are accessible, then disconnect the battery again.
• Use painter's tape to secure the glass to the door frame from the outside.
• If the glass is already down, support it by hand while removing the clips.

Step 4: Disconnect the glass from the regulator

• Use the 10mm socket or Torx T30 screwdriver to remove the fasteners holding the glass to the regulator carrier, depending on which style is installed.
• Carefully lift the glass upward and secure it in the fully up position with tape.
• Make sure the glass cannot slide down while you work.

Step 5: Remove the regulator and motor assembly

• Use the 10mm socket and ratchet with an extension bar to remove the regulator mounting bolts.
• Unplug the motor connector and any attached wiring clips.
• Work the regulator out through the largest door access opening. You may need to angle it carefully around the inner door structure.
• Move slowly to avoid scratching the glass.

Step 6: Install the new regulator

• Feed the new regulator into the door cavity and align it with the mounting holes.
• Use the 10mm socket to install the mounting bolts finger-tight first.
• Reconnect the motor connector and any clips.
• Torque to 8-10 Nm (71-89 in-lbs) for the regulator mounting fasteners unless your replacement kit specifies otherwise.

Step 7: Reattach the glass

• Lower the taped glass carefully into the regulator channel or align it with the carrier clips.
• Use the 10mm socket or Torx T30 screwdriver to secure the glass retainers.
• Remove the tape and slowly test that the glass sits squarely in the tracks.
• Torque to 8-10 Nm (71-89 in-lbs) for the glass fasteners if applicable.

Step 8: Test the window movement

• Reconnect the battery negative cable.
• Use the window switch to run the glass all the way down and all the way up.
• Watch for binding, popping, or crooked movement.
• If the glass binds, stop and realign the regulator before continuing.

Step 9: Reinstall the door panel

• Press the vapor barrier back into place.
• Reconnect the switch and light connectors.
• Hook the panel on the top window ledge first, then press the clips into place.
• Use the 7mm socket to reinstall the screws.
• Torque to 2-3 Nm (18-27 in-lbs) for the trim screws.
