🔧 Front Turn Signal Bulbs - Bulb Replacement
Replace the front turn signal bulbs if they are dim, flashing quickly, or out completely. On some versions of your Equinox, the front signal is a replaceable bulb in the headlamp assembly; on LED-equipped versions, the lamp may be serviced as an assembly instead.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lighting switch off and let the bulbs cool before touching the headlamp area.
- Do not touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare fingers. Oil from skin can shorten bulb life.
- If your Equinox has LED front signal lamps, the bulb may not be replaceable. In that case, the headlamp assembly or LED module needs service.
- No battery disconnect is normally required for this repair.

Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Access the headlamp area

- If access is tight, use the 7mm socket and ratchet to remove any upper air deflector or cover fasteners in the way.
- Keep the fasteners in order.
Step 2: Remove the bulb socket
- Reach behind the headlamp and twist the turn signal bulb socket counterclockwise by hand, or use a trim panel tool gently if needed for tight access.
- Pull the socket straight out of the housing.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Twist the old bulb out of the socket.
- Install the new bulb into the socket by hand.
- Do not touch the glass part of the bulb.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Insert the socket back into the headlamp housing.
- Twist it clockwise until it locks in place.
- If you removed any covers or deflectors, reinstall them with the 7mm socket and ratchet.
Step 5: Test the turn signal
- Turn the ignition on.
- Activate the left and right turn signals.
- Make sure the new bulb flashes normally and the dash indicator is not flashing rapidly.
✅ After Repair
