📋 Before You Begin

• Park your Odyssey on level ground.
• Shift to Park and apply the parking brake.
• Turn the ignition fully OFF and remove the key/fob from the vehicle area.
• Open the hood and support it securely with the hood prop rod.
• The air box is the black plastic housing connected to the large intake tube near the engine.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Locate the Air Filter Box

• Use a flashlight to find the black plastic air filter box in the engine bay.
• It sits at the front/side of the engine compartment and connects to the large black intake tube.
• The intake tube carries filtered air from the air box to the engine.

Step 2: Release the Air Box Clips

• Put on safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
• Use your fingers to flip open the metal spring clips around the air box lid.
• A spring clip is a small metal latch that holds the air box lid closed.
• Tip: Pull clips outward gently.

Step 3: Lift the Air Box Lid

• Use both hands to carefully lift the air box lid upward just enough to access the filter.
• Do not force the lid or pull hard on the intake tube.
• If the lid feels tight, check that all clips are fully released.

Step 4: Remove the Old Engine Air Filter

• Use your hands to lift the old engine air filter straight out of the lower air box.
• Notice the filter’s direction and shape before removing it completely.
• Use a clean shop towel to wipe loose dust from the inside of the lower air box.
• Do not let dirt fall into the intake opening.

Step 5: Install the New Engine Air Filter

• Place the new engine air filter into the lower air box by hand.
• Make sure the rubber edge sits flat all the way around.
• The filter should fit neatly without bending, crushing, or leaving gaps.
• Tip: A flat seal keeps dirt out.

Step 6: Reinstall the Air Box Lid

• Lower the air box lid back into place by hand.
• Check that the lid sits evenly on the new filter.
• Use your fingers to snap each metal spring clip back into the locked position.
• No torque spec applies because this air box uses hand-operated clips, not bolts.

Step 7: Final Visual Check

• Use a flashlight to inspect around the air box lid.
• Confirm every clip is attached and the lid is fully seated.
• Make sure no tools, towels, or packaging are left in the engine bay.

• Start your Odyssey and let it idle for about 30 seconds.
• Listen for unusual hissing sounds near the air box, which can mean the lid is not sealed.
• If you hear a hiss, turn the engine OFF and recheck the air box lid and clips.
