šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and empty the glove box
- Open the glove box fully and remove manuals and loose items by hand.
- Use a flashlight to look along the right side of the glove box for the small ādamperā arm (a little soft-close strap/arm that slows the glove box).
Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper arm
- On the right side, gently pull the damper arm off its peg by hand.
- If itās tight, carefully pry at the clip with a small flathead screwdriver just enough to pop it free.
- Tip: Pry gently to avoid snapping the clip.
Step 3: Lower the glove box past the side stops
- With the damper disconnected, squeeze the glove box sides inward by hand to release the built-in āstopsā (the plastic tabs that normally prevent it from dropping).
- Let the glove box swing down slowly.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access door
- Behind the glove box youāll see the cabin filter housing door.
- Press the locking tabs and remove the door by hand.
- Use a flashlight so you can clearly see the tabs and direction.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the old filter straight out by hand.
- Keep it level so dirt doesnāt spill into the housing.
- Tip: Check for leaves before installing new.
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter (correct direction)
- Look for the airflow arrow printed on the side of the new filter.
- Install it with the arrow pointing down (toward the floor), which is the normal airflow direction on your Palisadeās HVAC box.
- Slide it in evenly so it doesnāt fold or bind.
Step 7: Reinstall the access door
- Reinstall the housing door by hand until the tabs click into place.
- Gently tug the door to confirm itās fully latched.
Step 8: Reposition the glove box and reconnect the damper
- Lift the glove box back up and squeeze the sides inward to get the stops back past the dash opening.
- Reconnect the damper arm to its peg by hand (you should feel it snap on).
Step 9: Final check
- Close the glove box and make sure it opens/closes smoothly.
- Start the vehicle and run the blower on a medium setting to confirm normal airflow.
ā After Repair
- Turn the A/C fan to high for 10-15 seconds and listen for any rattling (a sign the door isnāt fully clipped in).
- If you had musty odors, run fresh air (not recirculation) for a few minutes.
