📋 Before You Begin

• Park your Odyssey on level ground.
• Shift to Park and set the parking brake.
• Turn the ignition completely off.
• Open the passenger door fully for better access.
• Empty the glove box before removing it from its stops.
• A trim removal tool is a plastic pry tool used to move interior panels without scratching them.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box

• Use your hands to open the glove box fully.
• Remove all items from the glove box so nothing spills out.
• Use a flashlight to look at both sides of the glove box opening.
• Keep screws and clips in a cup.

Step 2: Release the Glove Box Damper

• Look on the right side of the glove box for the small damper arm.
• The damper is the small slow-drop arm that keeps the glove box from falling open quickly.
• Use your fingers to slide or unhook the damper arm from the glove box peg.
• If it feels tight, use the trim removal tool gently to help pop it loose.

Step 3: Lower the Glove Box Past the Stops

• Use both hands to squeeze the left and right sides of the glove box inward.
• The side stops are small molded tabs that keep the glove box from dropping too far.
• While squeezing the sides inward, lower the glove box down slowly.
• Let it hang down carefully so you can see the cabin filter cover behind it.
• Gentle pressure works better than force.

Step 4: Remove the Cabin Filter Cover

• Use the flashlight to locate the long rectangular cabin filter cover behind the glove box.
• Use your fingers to press the release tabs on the cover.
• If the tabs are stiff, use the trim removal tool carefully to help release them.
• Pull the cover straight out and set it aside.

Step 5: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

• Use your fingers to slide the old cabin air filter straight out of the housing.
• Pay attention to the airflow arrow printed on the old filter before removing it fully.
• The airflow arrow shows the direction air moves through the filter.
• On your Odyssey, install the new filter with the airflow arrow pointing downward.
• Use the flashlight to check inside the filter slot for leaves or debris.
• Remove loose debris by hand while wearing nitrile gloves.

Step 6: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Use your hands to slide the new cabin air filter into the housing.
• Make sure the airflow arrow points downward.
• Push the filter in evenly so it does not fold, crush, or catch on the housing.
• The filter should sit flat inside the slot.
• No torque spec applies because there are no bolts for this repair.

Step 7: Reinstall the Filter Cover

• Use your hands to align the cabin filter cover with the housing.
• Push the cover straight in until the tabs click into place.
• Use the flashlight to confirm both sides are seated evenly.

Step 8: Raise and Reattach the Glove Box

• Use both hands to lift the glove box back toward its normal position.
• Squeeze the sides inward slightly so the stops pass back into place.
• Use your fingers to reconnect the right-side damper arm to its peg.
• Open and close the glove box once to make sure it moves smoothly.
