🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box

• Use your hands to open the glove box fully.
• Remove all contents from the glove box.
• Use a clean microfiber towel to wipe away loose dust if needed.
• Tip: Set items aside in one pile.

Step 2: Release the Glove Box Damper

• Use your hand to locate the small damper arm on the right side of the glove box.
• The damper is a small plastic arm that slows the glove box as it opens.
• Gently slide or pop the damper arm off its peg by hand.
• Do not use a screwdriver here; it can mark or crack the plastic.

Step 3: Lower the Glove Box Past the Stops

• Use both hands to press inward on the left and right sides of the glove box.
• The side stops are molded plastic tabs that keep the glove box from opening too far.
• While pressing inward, lower the glove box down carefully.
• Let it hang gently so you can see the cabin filter access door behind it.

Step 4: Remove the Cabin Filter Access Door

• Use your fingers to squeeze the tabs on both sides of the rectangular filter cover.
• Pull the cover straight toward you and set it aside.
• No bolts are used here, so no socket or screwdriver is needed.

Step 5: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

• Use your fingers to slide the old cabin air filter straight out.
• Pay attention to the airflow arrow on the old filter before removing it fully.
• On your CR-V, install the new filter with the airflow arrow pointing downward.
• Use the shop vacuum with crevice attachment to gently remove leaves or dust from the filter slot if needed.
• Tip: Do not push debris into the fan.

Step 6: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Use your hands to slide the new cabin air filter into the slot.
• Make sure the airflow arrow points downward.
• Push the filter in until it sits flat and fully inside the housing.
• If it bunches up or bends, pull it back out and try again gently.

Step 7: Reinstall the Filter Cover

• Use your hands to align the filter access cover with the opening.
• Push the cover into place until both side tabs click.
• Lightly tug the cover by hand to make sure it is latched.

Step 8: Raise and Secure the Glove Box

• Use both hands to lift the glove box back upward.
• Press inward on the glove box sides again so the side stops pass back into position.
• Reconnect the glove box damper arm to its peg by hand.
• Open and close the glove box once to confirm it moves smoothly.

Step 9: Final Check

• Start your CR-V and turn the fan on low.
• Listen for abnormal noises from the passenger-side dash area.
• If you hear a flapping or rubbing sound, turn the fan off and recheck that the filter is seated flat.
