šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and empty the glove box
- Open the glove box and remove anything inside so nothing falls out.
- Use a flashlight to look at the right side of the glove box for a small ādamperā arm (a little slow-down strap that controls how the glove box drops).
Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper arm
- Carefully pry the damper arm off its pin using a small flathead screwdriver or a trim removal tool.
- Tip: Pry gentlyāit's just a plastic clip.
Step 3: Release the glove box side stoppers
- On both sides of the glove box, there are built-in āstoppersā (plastic bumps) that prevent it from dropping all the way down.
- Push the glove box sides inward by hand to clear the stoppers, then let the glove box swing downward.
- Use work gloves to improve grip and protect your hands.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access door
- Behind the lowered glove box, locate the rectangular cabin filter cover.
- Press the tabs and remove the cover by hand; if itās tight, use a trim removal tool to help start it.
Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter
- Slide the old filter straight out.
- Keep it level so trapped leaves/dust donāt dump into the housing.
- Tip: Vacuum loose debris if needed.
Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter (correct direction)
- Check the airflow arrow on the filter frame.
- Install it in the same direction as the old filter. Most filters are marked AIR FLOW; typically it points down toward the blower fan in the housing.
- Slide the filter fully in so it sits flat and doesnāt buckle.
Step 7: Reinstall the cover and glove box
- Reinstall the cabin filter cover by hand until the tabs click.
- Lift the glove box back up and push the sides inward again to get past the stoppers.
- Reconnect the damper arm to its pin by hand; if needed, guide it with a small flathead screwdriver.
