Step 1: Open and support the glove box

- Use a flashlight to look at the right side of the glove box for the small ādamperā arm (a little shock-like strap that slows the glove box).
Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper
- Gently pry the damper clip off its pin using a trim removal tool.
- Tip: Pry gently at the clip, not the arm.
Step 3: Drop the glove box down
- Push in on both sides of the glove box (near the upper corners) to release the stops.
- Let the glove box swing down slowly.
- If a side panel or small screw is in your way on your Accord, remove it with a Phillips screwdriver #2 (some interiors vary).
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter cover
- Behind the lowered glove box, find the rectangular cabin filter housing.
- Pinch the two locking tabs on the cover and pull the cover straight off by hand.
- Tip: Wiggling gently helps the tabs release.
Step 5: Pull out the old filter
- Slide the filter tray/filter out toward you by hand.
- Wear nitrile glovesāthe old filter can be dusty.
- Note the airflow direction arrow on the filter (usually points down on this housing).
Step 6: Install the new filter
- Insert the new cabin air filter in the same orientation as the old one.
- Make sure the filter sits flat and doesnāt buckle.
- If thereās an airflow arrow, match it to the housing direction (commonly DOWN).
Step 7: Reassemble the glove box
- Reinstall the filter cover by hand until both tabs click.
- Lift the glove box back up and push the sides in again to pass the stops back into place.
- Reconnect the damper arm by pressing it back onto its pin by hand (use the trim removal tool only if needed to guide the clip).
ā After Repair
- Start the engine and run the blower fan at different speeds to confirm good airflow.
- Switch between fresh-air and recirculation to ensure no rattles behind the glove box.
