• Park on level ground and shift to Park.
• Open the passenger door for more light and space.
• Empty the glove box so nothing falls out.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and clear the glove box

• Open the glove box fully and remove any contents.
• Use a flashlight to look along the outer sides of the glove box for the “stops” (small plastic bumpers that limit how far it opens).

Step 2: Release the glove box stops

• Push in on both sides of the glove box at the same time to clear the stops past the dash opening.
• If it’s tight, use a trim removal tool (plastic) gently to help guide the side inward.
• Let the glove box swing downward slowly.

Step 3: Disconnect the glove box damper (if equipped)

• Some vans have a small “damper” arm on the right side that slows the glove box (it’s a small linkage).
• Use a trim removal tool (plastic) to pop the damper end off its pin.
• Tip: Support the glove box so it doesn’t drop.

Step 4: Locate and open the cabin filter access door

• Behind the glove box opening, locate the cabin filter cover/door (a rectangular plastic door).
• Press the locking tabs and remove the door by hand. If a screw is present on your cover, remove it with a Phillips screwdriver.

Step 5: Remove the old cabin air filter

• Pull the old filter straight out while wearing nitrile gloves.
• Note the airflow direction marking on the filter/frame (usually an arrow). Take a quick photo with your phone if helpful.

Step 6: Install the new cabin air filter

• Slide the new filter into the slot in the same orientation as the old one.
• Make sure the filter sits flat and fully seated (no folded corners).
• Tip: Match the airflow arrow direction exactly.

Step 7: Reinstall the access door and glove box

• Reinstall the filter access door until the tabs click in place.
• If removed, reconnect the damper using the trim removal tool (plastic) to guide it onto the pin.
• Lift the glove box back up and push the sides inward again to get the stops back past the dash opening.

• Start the engine and run the blower on high for 30 seconds.
• Confirm airflow is stronger and there are no rattles behind the glove box.
• If you hear a tapping/whistling, recheck that the filter door is fully latched and the filter is seated flat.
