🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box

• Use your hands to open the glove box fully.
• Remove all items from inside the glove box.
• Use a flashlight if the area is hard to see.
• Tip: Put small items in a bag.

Step 2: Release the Glove Box Damper

• The damper is a small plastic arm that slows the glove box as it opens.
• Use your hand to gently slide the damper arm off the small peg on the right side of the glove box.
• Do not pry it with a screwdriver; it should pop off by hand.

Step 3: Lower the Glove Box

• Use both hands to squeeze inward on the left and right sides of the glove box.
• This lets the side stops clear the dashboard opening.
• Slowly lower the glove box downward until you can see the rectangular cabin filter cover behind it.

Step 4: Remove the Cabin Filter Cover

Step 5: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

Step 6: Clean the Filter Slot

• Use a shop vacuum with crevice nozzle to remove leaves, dust, and debris from the filter opening.
• Do not push debris deeper into the HVAC box.
• The HVAC box is the plastic air chamber that directs air through the vents.

Step 7: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Use your hands to slide the new cabin air filter into the slot.
• Make sure the airflow arrow points down.
• Slide it in evenly so the pleats do not fold or crush.
• No torque spec applies because there are no bolts for this repair.

Step 8: Reinstall the Filter Cover

• Use your hands to align the cabin filter cover with the opening.
• Push the cover in until both side tabs click into place.
• Gently tug on the cover to confirm it is locked.

Step 9: Raise and Secure the Glove Box

• Use both hands to lift the glove box back up.
• Squeeze the glove box sides inward again so the side stops pass the dashboard opening.
• Release the sides once the stops are back in position.

Step 10: Reconnect the Glove Box Damper

• Use your hand to slide the damper arm back onto its peg on the right side of the glove box.
• Open and close the glove box slowly to make sure it moves smoothly.
