🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box

• Use your hands to open the glove box fully.
• Remove everything from inside the glove box.
• Use a flashlight to look at the right side of the glove box opening.

Step 2: Release the Glove Box Damper

• The glove box damper is a small plastic arm that slows the glove box when it opens.
• Use your hand or a plastic trim removal tool to gently slide the damper arm off its peg on the right side.
• Go slow; the plastic is thin.

Step 3: Lower the Glove Box

• Use both hands to squeeze the left and right sides of the glove box inward.
• While squeezing, lower the glove box past the built-in stops.
• Let the glove box hang downward carefully.

Step 4: Remove the Cabin Filter Access Cover

• Use a flashlight to locate the rectangular cabin filter access cover behind the glove box.
• Use a 7mm socket and 1/4-inch ratchet to remove the access cover screws if equipped.

• Pull the access cover straight off and set it aside.

Step 5: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

• Use nitrile gloves and pull the old cabin air filter straight out of the housing.
• Watch the airflow arrow printed on the old filter before removing it completely.
• The airflow arrow shows the direction air moves through the filter.
• Use a flashlight to check inside the housing for leaves or debris.
• Remove loose debris by hand only; do not push debris deeper into the HVAC box.

Step 6: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Use your hands to slide the new cabin air filter into the housing.
• Install it with the airflow arrow pointing the same direction as the old filter.
• Keep the pleats straight and do not crush the filter frame.
• If it binds, pull back and realign.

Step 7: Reinstall the Access Cover

• Use your hands to position the cabin filter access cover back onto the housing.
• If equipped with screws, use a 7mm socket and 1/4-inch ratchet to reinstall them snugly.
• Torque to snug hand-tight only; do not overtighten plastic fasteners.
• If equipped with clips, press the cover until the tabs click into place.

Step 8: Raise the Glove Box

• Use both hands to lift the glove box back into position.
• Squeeze the sides inward slightly so the stops pass back into the dash opening.
• Release the glove box once it is seated normally.

Step 9: Reattach the Glove Box Damper

• Use your hand or a plastic trim removal tool to reconnect the damper arm to its peg.
• Open and close the glove box once to confirm it moves smoothly.
