📋 Before You Begin

• 📋 Park your F-150 on level ground and shift to Park.
• 📋 Turn the ignition off and remove the key or keep the key fob away from the start button.
• 📋 Empty the glove box so items do not spill out when it drops down.
• 📋 A cabin air filter has an airflow arrow. That arrow must face the correct direction when installed.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box

• Open the glove box fully by hand.
• Remove all items from inside the glove box.
• Use a flashlight to look along the right side of the glove box for the small damper arm.
• The damper arm is a small plastic link that slows the glove box as it opens.

Step 2: Release the Glove Box Damper Arm

• Use your fingers or a small flat-blade screwdriver to gently slide the damper arm off its pin on the right side of the glove box.
• Do not pry hard. The plastic can break if twisted.
• Work slowly around plastic tabs.

Step 3: Lower the Glove Box Past the Stops

• Push inward on both sides of the glove box by hand to clear the built-in side stops.
• Let the glove box swing downward carefully.
• Use a flashlight to locate the cabin filter access door behind the glove box opening.

Step 4: Remove the Cabin Filter Access Door

• Use your fingers to press the tabs on the cabin filter access door.
• If a tab is stiff, use a small flat-blade screwdriver gently under the tab to release it.
• Pull the access door straight off and set it aside.

Step 5: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

• Slide the old cabin air filter straight out of the housing by hand.
• Use nitrile gloves if the filter is dusty or dirty.
• Look at the airflow arrow direction on the old filter before removing it completely.
• On your F-150, install the new filter with the airflow arrow pointing down.

Step 6: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Slide the new cabin air filter into the housing by hand.
• Make sure the airflow arrow points down.
• Keep the filter flat so it does not fold or bunch up inside the housing.
• Do not crush the filter pleats.

Step 7: Reinstall the Access Door

• Line up the cabin filter access door with the housing.
• Press it into place by hand until the tabs click securely.
• Use a flashlight to confirm the door is fully seated.

Step 8: Raise and Secure the Glove Box

• Lift the glove box back upward by hand.
• Push the sides inward slightly so the stops pass back into place.
• Reconnect the damper arm to its pin by hand.
• Open and close the glove box once to confirm it moves smoothly.

• ✅ Start your F-150 and turn the blower fan on low, then high.
• ✅ Listen for any rattling or flapping noise from behind the glove box.
• ✅ Make sure airflow from the vents feels normal.
• ✅ If airflow is weak or noisy, reopen the glove box and check that the filter is seated flat and the access door is latched.
