🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box

• Use your hands to open the glove box fully.
• Remove the owner’s manual, papers, and any loose items.
• Use a flashlight to look at both sides of the glove box opening.
• Tip: Keep small items in a cup.

Step 2: Release the Glove Box Stops

• The glove box stops are small plastic tabs that prevent the glove box from dropping too far.
• Use your hands to gently squeeze the sides of the glove box inward.
• While squeezing, lower the glove box past the stops.
• If a side is tight, use a trim removal tool carefully to help guide the plastic past the stop.
• Do not pry hard; the plastic should flex slightly and release.

Step 3: Lower the Glove Box

Step 5: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

Step 6: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Compare the new cabin air filter to the old one to confirm the same shape and size.
• Look for the airflow arrow on the new filter.
• Install the new filter with the airflow arrow pointing in the same direction as the old filter.
• Use your hands to slide the filter fully into the housing until it sits flat.
• Do not crush or fold the filter while installing it.

Step 7: Reinstall the Filter Access Door

• Use your hands to position the cabin filter access door back onto the HVAC housing.
• Press the door until the latch tabs click into place.
• Gently tug on the door with your fingers to confirm it is secure.

Step 8: Raise and Secure the Glove Box

• Use your hands to lift the glove box back into position.
• Squeeze the glove box sides inward again so the stops clear the dash opening.
• Release the sides once the stops are back behind the dash trim.
• Open and close the glove box once to confirm smooth movement.

Step 9: Final Check

• Start your Canyon and turn the blower fan on using the HVAC controls.
• Listen for rattles, clicking, or airflow restriction.
• If you hear a flap noise, turn the ignition off and recheck that the filter and access door are seated correctly.
