📋 Before You Begin

• Park your Edge on level ground and shift to Park.
• Turn the ignition off and remove the key fob from the vehicle.
• Empty the glove box completely so nothing spills out when it drops down.
• The cabin air filter is located behind the glove box on the passenger side.
• A damper arm is a small plastic slow-release arm that keeps the glove box from dropping open too fast.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open and Empty the Glove Box

• Put on safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
• Open the glove box fully.
• Remove all items from the glove box.
• Use a flashlight to look along the right side of the glove box for the damper arm.

Step 2: Disconnect the Glove Box Damper Arm

• Use your fingers to gently slide or pop the damper arm off the small pin on the right side of the glove box.
• No tool is normally needed; use the flashlight if visibility is poor.
• Go slow; the plastic is small.

Step 3: Release the Glove Box Stops

• Push inward on both sides of the glove box at the same time.
• This lets the plastic side stops clear the dashboard opening.
• Lower the glove box carefully until it hangs downward.
• Use the flashlight to locate the rectangular cabin filter access door behind the glove box.

Step 4: Remove the Cabin Filter Door

• Use your fingers to release the tabs on the cabin filter access door.
• Pull the cover straight off and set it aside.
• Use the flashlight to note the airflow arrow direction on the old filter before removal.
• The airflow arrow shows the direction air moves through the filter.

Step 5: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

• Use your fingers to pull the old cabin air filter straight out of the housing.
• Keep it level if possible so dirt and leaves do not spill into the blower area.
• If debris is visible in the filter slot, remove loose leaves by hand while wearing nitrile gloves.
• Do not push debris deeper into the HVAC box.

Step 6: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Compare the new cabin air filter to the old one to confirm the size and shape match.
• Slide the new filter into the housing with the airflow arrow facing the same direction as the old filter.
• On your Edge, the airflow direction is typically downward through the filter.
• Do not crush or fold the filter pleats during installation.
• A gentle wiggle helps it slide in.

Step 7: Reinstall the Filter Door

• Use your fingers to snap the cabin filter access door back into place.
• Confirm both retaining tabs are fully seated.
• Use the flashlight to check that the cover sits flat and does not pinch the filter.

Step 8: Raise and Reconnect the Glove Box

• Lift the glove box back toward its normal position.
• Push inward on both sides again so the side stops pass back into the dashboard opening.
• Reconnect the damper arm to the small pin on the right side of the glove box using your fingers.
• Open and close the glove box once to confirm it moves smoothly.

• Start your Edge and turn the blower fan on low, then medium, then high.
• Listen for abnormal rattles or clicking noises behind the glove box.
• Check that airflow from the vents feels normal.
• If you hear a fluttering sound, turn the fan off and recheck that the filter is fully seated and the access door is clipped on.
• No scan tool, reset, calibration, or infotainment menu step is required.
