🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Empty and Open the Glove Box

• Open the glove box fully by hand.
• Remove all contents from the glove box.
• Use a flashlight to look along both side walls of the glove box opening.
• Keep screws and clips organized.

Step 2: Release the Glove Box Stops

• The glove box stops are molded plastic tabs that keep the glove box from dropping too far.
• Use both hands to gently squeeze the sides of the glove box inward.
• If the side tabs are stiff, use a trim removal tool to help guide one side inward while supporting the glove box with your other hand.
• Lower the glove box slowly until it hangs down and exposes the cabin filter access door behind it.
• No fastener torque is used in this step.

Step 3: Open the Cabin Filter Access Door

• Use a flashlight to locate the rectangular cabin air filter cover behind the glove box opening.
• Release the locking tabs on the filter cover by hand.
• If needed, use a trim removal tool gently on the tab area only.
• Remove the filter access door and set it aside.
• No fastener torque is used in this step.

Step 4: Remove the Old Cabin Air Filter

• Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
• Slide the old cabin air filter straight out by hand.
• Note the airflow arrow direction printed on the old filter before removing it fully.
• Keep the filter level so dust and leaves do not fall into the blower housing.
• The blower housing is the plastic HVAC box that holds the fan and directs air through the vents.
• Do not vacuum deep inside ducts.

Step 5: Install the New Cabin Air Filter

• Compare the new cabin air filter to the old one to make sure the size and shape match.
• Check the airflow arrow on the new filter.
• Install the new filter in the same direction as the old filter, following the airflow arrow marking.
• Slide the filter in gently by hand until it is fully seated.
• Do not bend, crush, or force the filter into the slot.

Step 6: Reinstall the Filter Access Door

• Position the cabin filter access door over the opening by hand.
• Press the cover into place until the locking tabs click securely.
• Use a flashlight to confirm the cover is seated evenly all the way around.
• No fastener torque is used in this step.

Step 7: Raise and Secure the Glove Box

• Lift the glove box back toward its normal position by hand.
• Gently squeeze the glove box sides inward again so the stops clear the dash opening.
• Release the sides once the stops are back above the dash opening.
• Open and close the glove box once to make sure it moves normally.
• Use the flashlight to check that nothing is pinched behind the glove box.
