🔧 Cabin Air Filter - Replacement

The cabin air filter on your Rogue sits behind the glove box. Replacing it helps restore airflow and can reduce dust, pollen, and odors inside the vehicle.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off before starting.
  • Keep the glove box supported so it does not drop suddenly.
  • Handle the filter gently so dirt does not fall into the HVAC housing.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Trim panel tool (plastic)
  • Flashlight
  • Gloves

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Cabin air filter - Qty: 1

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Open the passenger door for better access to the glove box area.
  • Have the new filter ready so the housing stays open for less time.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the glove box

  • Use your hands to open the glove box all the way.
  • Remove any items inside the glove box before continuing.
  • Work slowly to avoid breaking the stops.

Step 2: Release the glove box stops

  • Use your hands to gently squeeze the sides of the glove box inward.
  • This lets the glove box drop down farther so you can reach the filter cover.

Step 3: Remove the cabin filter cover

  • Use your hands to unclip the cabin air filter access cover behind the glove box.
  • Set the cover aside in a safe spot.

Step 4: Remove the old filter

  • Use your hands to slide the old cabin air filter straight out.
  • Pay attention to the airflow arrow on the old filter before removal.
  • If the filter is dirty, keep it level so debris does not spill out.

Step 5: Install the new filter

  • Use your hands to slide the new cabin air filter into the housing.
  • Make sure the airflow arrow matches the direction shown on the old filter.
  • Push it in fully so it sits flat in the housing.

Step 6: Reinstall the cover and glove box

  • Use your hands to reinstall the filter cover until it clicks into place.
  • Lift the glove box back into position and release the sides so the stops re-engage.
  • Close the glove box and make sure it opens and closes normally.

✅ After Repair

  • Turn the blower fan on and check for stronger airflow.
  • Listen for any rattles from the glove box area.
  • If airflow still seems weak, inspect the filter for correct installation.
