šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open and clear the glove box
- Open the glove box fully and remove any contents.
- Use a flashlight to look at the right side of the glove box for the ādamperā (a small arm that slows the glove box). Damper = the slow-down strap/arm.
Step 2: Disconnect the glove box damper
- On the right side, carefully pop the damper arm off its pin using a plastic trim tool.
- If your damper uses a small screw/clip instead, remove it with a Phillips #2 screwdriver.
Step 3: Release the glove box stops so it drops down
- With both hands, gently push the glove box sides inward to clear the built-in āstops.ā
- Let the glove box swing downward slowly.
Step 4: Remove the cabin filter access cover
- Behind the glove box youāll see the cabin filter housing cover.
- Press the side tabs and pull the cover off by hand (use the flashlight to see the tab locations).
Step 5: Remove the old filter
- Slide the old cabin filter straight out while wearing nitrile gloves.
- Keep it level so debris doesnāt dump into the housing.
Step 6: Install the new filter (correct direction)
- Check the airflow arrow on the new filter frame.
- Install it in the same direction as the old one (the arrow must match airflow direction shown on the housing/filter). Use the flashlight if you canāt read the markings.
- Make sure the filter seats fully and isnāt folded or pinched.
Step 7: Reinstall cover and glove box
- Reinstall the cabin filter housing cover by hand until the tabs click.
- Lift the glove box back up and push the sides inward again to pass the stops.
- Reconnect the damper arm (press it back onto the pin) using a plastic trim tool if needed.
- If a fastener was removed, reinstall it with a Phillips #2 screwdriver (snug only; do not overtighten).
ā After Repair
- Start the engine and run the blower on high for 30 seconds.
- Switch between fresh air and recirculation to confirm normal airflow and no rattles.
