🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lower the glove box

• Use both hands to open and support the glove box.
• Locate the small damper arm attached near the right side of the glove box. A damper slows the glove box as it opens.
• Use your fingers to carefully slide the damper arm off its mounting pin.
• Press both glove-box side walls inward with your hands until the plastic stops clear the dashboard opening.
• Lower the glove box gently. It can remain attached at its lower hinges.

Step 2: Remove the filter cover

• Find the rectangular cabin-filter cover directly behind the lowered glove box.
• Use your fingers to squeeze the release tabs at both ends of the cover.
• Pull the cover straight toward you and set it aside.
• Plastic tabs prefer patience over horsepower.

Step 3: Remove the old filter

• Use your fingers to pull the old filter straight out of the housing.
• Notice the direction of the airflow arrow before discarding it.
• Keep the dirty side facing upward while removing it so loose debris stays inside the filter.

Step 4: Clean the housing

• Wear safety glasses and nitrile gloves.
• Use the vacuum cleaner with crevice attachment to remove loose dust and leaves near the opening.

Step 5: Install the new filter

• Hold the new filter by its outer frame with clean hands.
• Position its AIR FLOW arrow pointing downward.
• If it only says UP, install that arrow pointing upward.
• Slide the filter fully into the housing without crushing or folding the pleats.
• Check that the filter frame sits flat and doesn't protrude from the opening.

Step 6: Reinstall the cover

• Use your hands to align the filter cover with the housing.
• Press the cover into place until both release tabs click securely.
• Lightly pull on the cover to confirm it is latched.

Step 7: Reinstall the glove box

• Lift the glove box while supporting it with both hands.
• Press the glove-box sides inward until both stops pass into the dashboard opening.
• Reconnect the damper arm to its mounting pin using your fingers.
• Open and close the glove box slowly to verify normal movement.
