How to Replace the Battery on a 2017 Chevrolet Equinox
Step-by-step instructions with tools, safety tips, torque specs, and after-repair checks
🔧 Battery - Replacement
Replacing the battery on your Equinox is a straightforward job, but you want to keep power loss clean and avoid shorting the terminals. The new battery should be installed with the correct group size and secure hold-down so it cannot move while driving.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key/fob from the vehicle.
- Wear safety glasses and gloves; battery acid can burn skin and eyes.
- Do not let a wrench touch both battery terminals or the body at the same time.
- Disconnect the negative terminal first and reconnect it last to reduce short-circuit risk.
- Memory settings may be lost when power is disconnected.
