🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Recover the refrigerant
- Use an A/C refrigerant recovery machine R-1234yf/R-134a compatible to recover the refrigerant from the system.
- Use an A/C manifold gauge set R-1234yf/R-134a compatible that matches the refrigerant type on the under-hood label.
- Confirm both high-side and low-side gauges read 0 psi before opening any A/C line.
- Never vent refrigerant.
Step 2: Raise and support the front
- Use wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
- Use a floor jack 3-ton minimum at the front center jacking point.
- Place jack stands 3-ton minimum under the approved front support points.

- Install each O-ring by hand without twisting it.
- Dry O-rings leak easily.
Step 10: Install the new compressor
- Lift the new A/C compressor into place by hand.
- Start all mounting bolts by hand to avoid cross-threading.
- Use a 12mm socket or 14mm socket to snug the mounting bolts evenly.
- Use a torque wrench 3/8-inch drive to tighten the compressor mounting bolts to 20-25 Nm (15-18 ft-lbs).
Step 11: Reconnect the A/C lines
- Remove the caps and plugs from the compressor and lines.
- Push the A/C line block straight onto the compressor ports by hand.
- Use a 10mm socket or 12mm socket to install the retaining bolt.
- Use a torque wrench 3/8-inch drive to tighten the line retaining bolt to 8-12 Nm (71-106 in-lbs).
Step 12: Reconnect the electrical connector
