🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Disconnect the battery

• Use the 10mm battery terminal wrench to disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Move the cable aside so it cannot touch the battery post.

Step 2: Remove the ignition coil covers or intake access parts

• If any engine covers block access, use the trim panel tool to remove them carefully.
• Set all fasteners aside in order.

Step 3: Remove one ignition coil at a time

• Use the 10mm socket, ratchet, and extension to remove the coil hold-down bolt.
• Twist the coil gently and pull it straight up.
• Keep each coil matched to its cylinder.

Step 4: Clean the spark plug well

• Use compressed air to blow dirt away from the plug hole before removing the plug.
• This helps keep debris out of the cylinder.

Step 5: Remove the old spark plug

• Use the spark plug socket 5/8-inch, extension, and ratchet to remove the spark plug.
• Turn it counterclockwise slowly so it does not bind.

Step 6: Check and install the new spark plug

• Check the new plug gap before installing. The correct gap is typically 0.040 in (1.0 mm).
• Thread the new plug in by hand first using the spark plug socket and extension.
• Once seated, tighten with a torque wrench to 25 Nm (18 ft-lbs).
• Start every plug by hand.

Step 7: Reinstall the ignition coil

• Add a small amount of dielectric grease inside the coil boot if desired.
• Push the coil straight down onto the new plug.
• Install the coil bolt with the 10mm socket and tighten to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).

Step 8: Repeat for all remaining cylinders

• Repeat Steps 3 through 7 for each remaining spark plug.
• Work one cylinder at a time so nothing gets mixed up.

Step 9: Reconnect the battery and reassemble

• Reinstall any covers you removed.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable with the 10mm battery terminal wrench.
