• Turn the ignition off and keep the key fob away from the cabin.
• Use painter’s tape to protect the painted door edge around the mirror area.

• A plastic trim removal tool is a non-metal pry tool that helps remove trim without scratching it.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the Front Door Switch Panel

• Use a plastic trim removal tool to gently lift the power window and mirror switch panel from the armrest.
• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to press each connector lock tab.
• Unplug the switch connectors by hand.
• Place the switch panel somewhere safe so the trim does not get scratched.
• Lift slowly near each clip.

Step 2: Remove Hidden Door Panel Screws

• Use a plastic trim removal tool to remove the small covers in the pull handle and interior handle area.
• Use a Torx T20 screwdriver, Torx T30 screwdriver, 7mm socket, or 8mm socket to remove the exposed door panel screws.
• Place the screws in a magnetic parts tray.

Step 3: Release the Door Panel Clips

• Start at the lower corner of the door panel.
• Use a plastic trim removal tool to pry the panel outward near the first clip.
• Continue around the bottom and sides until the clips pop free.
• Use panel clip removal pliers if a clip remains stuck in the metal door shell.
• Lift the door panel upward to unhook it from the window ledge.

Step 4: Disconnect Door Panel Wiring and Handle Cable

• Support the door panel with one hand.
• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to release connector lock tabs.
• Unplug any door panel wiring connectors by hand.
• Disconnect the inside handle cable by rotating the cable end out of the lever.
• Set the door panel on a clean blanket or cardboard.

Step 5: Remove the Mirror Sail Trim

• The sail trim is the small triangular trim piece inside the door near the mirror.
• Use a plastic trim removal tool to gently pry the sail trim away from the door.
• Pull straight outward to release the clips.
• Set the sail trim aside.

Step 6: Access the Mirror Connector

• Use a plastic trim removal tool to peel back only the upper front corner of the door water shield if it blocks the mirror wiring.
• Follow the mirror wire harness from the mirror base into the door.
• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to unlock the mirror electrical connector.
• Unplug the mirror connector by hand.
• If the harness has retainers, release them gently with the small flat-blade screwdriver.

Step 7: Remove the Mirror Mounting Nuts

• Support the outside mirror with one hand.
• Use a 10mm socket with a 6-inch extension to remove the mirror mounting nuts from inside the door.
• Keep the last nut threaded on a few turns until you are ready to remove the mirror.
• Remove the last nut while holding the mirror firmly.

Step 8: Remove the Old Mirror

• Pull the mirror straight away from the outside of the door by hand.
• Guide the mirror wiring harness through the door opening.
• Remove the old foam gasket if it stayed stuck to the door.
• Clean the mounting surface with a clean dry cloth.

Step 9: Install the New Mirror

• Make sure the mirror foam gasket is seated flat on the new mirror.
• Feed the mirror wiring harness through the door opening by hand.
• Place the mirror studs through the door holes.
• Start the 10mm mounting nuts by hand to avoid cross-threading.
• Use a 10mm socket to snug the nuts evenly.
• Use a torque wrench with a 10mm socket to tighten the nuts.
• Torque mirror mounting nuts to 8-10 Nm (71-89 in-lbs).

Step 10: Connect the Mirror Wiring

• Route the mirror harness along the original path.
• Clip the harness retainers back into place by hand.
• Plug in the mirror connector until the lock clicks.
• Keep the harness away from the window regulator and glass path.

Step 11: Test the Mirror Before Reassembly

• Use a 10mm socket to temporarily reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Plug in the door switch panel by hand.
• Turn the ignition to accessory mode.
• Use the mirror switch to test up, down, left, and right adjustment.
• If equipped, test power fold, heat, puddle lamp, turn signal, memory, and blind spot indicator.
• Turn the ignition off before continuing.

Step 12: Reseal the Water Shield

• Use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative battery cable again before reassembly.
• Press the water shield back into the original butyl sealant by hand.
• Use fresh butyl sealing tape if the seal is loose, dirty, or torn.
• Make sure wiring passes through its original openings.

Step 13: Reinstall the Mirror Sail Trim

• Line up the sail trim clips with the door holes.
• Press the sail trim into place by hand until it sits flush.
• Do not hit the trim with tools because the clips can crack.

Step 14: Reinstall the Door Panel

• Reconnect the inside door handle cable by hand.
• Reconnect all door panel wiring connectors by hand until each connector clicks.
• Hang the top of the door panel over the window ledge.
• Line up the door panel clips and press around the panel edges by hand.
• Use a 7mm socket, 8mm socket, Torx T20 screwdriver, or Torx T30 screwdriver to reinstall the original screws.
• Torque small door trim screws to 2-3 Nm (18-27 in-lbs).

Step 15: Reinstall the Switch Panel and Battery Cable

• Plug the window and mirror switch connectors into the switch panel by hand.
• Press the switch panel into the armrest until it sits flush.
• Reinstall any small trim covers by hand.
• Use a 10mm socket to reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Torque negative battery terminal nut to 5-6 Nm (44-53 in-lbs).
