🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the Interior Door Handle Screw Cover

• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to gently open the small trim cover behind the inside door handle.
• Wrap the screwdriver tip with painter’s tape if you are worried about marks.
• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the screw behind the cover.
• Go slow near plastic trim.

Step 2: Remove the Armrest Screw

• Use a plastic trim removal tool to lift the small cover inside the door pull/armrest pocket.
• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to remove the screw under that cover.
• Place the screw in the magnetic parts tray.

Step 3: Release the Door Panel Clips

• Use a plastic trim removal tool at the lower rear corner of the door panel.
• Pry outward gently until the first clip pops free.
• Work around the bottom and sides of the panel with the plastic trim tool.

Step 8: Unplug the Side Mirror Connector

Step 9: Remove the Mirror Mounting Nuts

• There are typically 3 mounting nuts holding the mirror to the door.
• Keep one hand on the outside mirror while removing the last nut.
• If access is tight, use a 10mm wrench carefully.
• Do not drop nuts into the door.

Step 10: Remove the Old Mirror

• Feed the mirror wiring through the door opening by hand.
• Pull the mirror straight away from the outside of the door.
• Remove any stuck gasket material by hand; do not scrape painted surfaces with metal tools.

Step 11: Install the New Mirror

• Guide the new mirror wiring through the door opening by hand.
• Seat the mirror against the door so the gasket sits flat.
• Start all mounting nuts by hand first to avoid cross-threading.
• Use a 10mm socket, 6-inch extension, and ratchet handle to snug the nuts evenly.
• Use a torque wrench inch-pound 1/4-inch drive with a 10mm socket to tighten the nuts to Torque to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).

Step 12: Reconnect the Mirror Wiring

• Plug the mirror connector in by hand until the lock clicks.
• Make sure the harness is routed the same way as before.
• Keep wiring away from the window regulator and moving glass parts.

Step 13: Reinstall the Mirror Inner Trim Cover

• Line up the triangular trim cover clips by hand.
• Press the cover into place until each clip snaps in.
• Use only hand pressure; do not hammer interior trim.

Step 14: Reconnect Door Panel Cables and Connectors

• Reconnect the door handle cable by hand and snap the cable sleeve back into its bracket.
• Plug in the window switch connector by hand until it clicks.
• Check that no wires are pinched behind the door panel.

Step 15: Reinstall the Door Panel

• Hook the top edge of the door panel over the window ledge by hand.
• Line up the door panel clips with the holes in the door.
• Press around the edges by hand until all clips snap in.
• If a clip is broken, use a plastic trim removal tool to remove the old clip and install a replacement door trim panel clip by hand.

Step 16: Reinstall the Door Screws and Covers

• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to reinstall the armrest screw.
• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver to reinstall the inside handle screw.
• Snap both screw covers back into place by hand.
• Do not overtighten; the screws thread into plastic.

Step 17: Reconnect the Battery

• Use a 10mm wrench to reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Tighten the terminal snugly so it cannot rotate by hand.
• Start the vehicle and allow electronics to wake up normally.
