🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Protect the Door and Mirror Area

• Use 2-inch painter's tape around the mirror base, upper door trim, window switch panel, and door pull trim.
• Place clean shop towels over the painted door skin below the mirror.
• Tape prevents accidental scratches.

Step 2: Remove the Front Window Switch Panel

• Use a plastic wedge trim tool to gently lift the front window switch panel from the armrest.
• Lift it only high enough to access the connectors underneath.
• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to press each connector locking tab.
• Unplug the switch panel connectors and set the panel on clean shop towels.

Step 3: Remove Hidden Door Panel Screws

• Look inside the switch panel opening and door pull area for the door panel screws.
• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver or 10mm socket with a ratchet handle to remove the screws.
• Set the screws aside in order so they return to the same locations.

Step 4: Release the Front Door Panel Clips

• Start at the lower rear corner of the front door panel.
• Use a trim panel removal tool between the trim panel and the metal door shell.
• Pop the clips loose one at a time along the lower and side edges.
• Lift the door panel straight upward off the window ledge.
• Do not pull the panel away quickly because wiring and the inside handle cable may still be connected.

Step 5: Disconnect Door Panel Wiring and Handle Cable

• Hold the door panel close to the door with one hand.
• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to open the inside handle cable retainer.
• Lift the cable end out of the handle lever by hand.
• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to release any remaining electrical connector lock tabs.
• Place the door panel safely on clean shop towels.

Step 6: Remove the Inner Mirror Corner Trim

• Use a plastic wedge trim tool to gently pry off the small triangular trim cover at the inside mirror corner.
• Pull straight outward to release the clips.
• Set the trim cover aside on clean shop towels.

Step 7: Locate and Unplug the Mirror Connector

• Follow the mirror wiring harness from the mirror area down to its connector inside the door.
• Use a small flat-blade screwdriver to press the connector locking tab.
• Unplug the mirror connector.
• If the harness is clipped to the door, release the clips carefully with the small flat-blade screwdriver.

Step 8: Remove the Mirror Mounting Nuts

• Support the outside mirror with one hand through the open window area.
• Use a 10mm socket, socket extension 6-inch, and ratchet handle to remove the mirror mounting nuts.
• Remove the lower nuts first and the upper nut last.
• Keep firm control of the mirror as the last nut comes off.

Step 9: Remove the Old Mirror

• Guide the mirror wiring harness through the door opening by hand.
• Pull the mirror straight away from the door.
• If the foam seal sticks, use a plastic wedge trim tool to gently separate it from the door.
• Clean the mounting area with clean shop towels.

Step 10: Prepare the New Mirror

• Compare the new side view mirror assembly to the old one before installation.
• Make sure the electrical connector, mounting studs, foam seal, and painted cap match.
• If your replacement mirror does not include the painted mirror cap, transfer the cap from the old mirror using a plastic wedge trim tool.
• If the foam seal is not installed, place the new mirror mounting foam seal on the mirror base.

Step 11: Install the New Mirror

• Feed the mirror wiring harness through the door opening by hand.
• Set the mirror against the door and align the mounting studs.
• Start all mirror mounting nuts by hand first.
• Use a 10mm socket, socket extension 6-inch, and torque wrench inch-pound range to tighten the mirror mounting nuts to Torque to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).
• Do not overtighten. The mirror base and door mounting area can crack or deform.

Step 12: Connect and Route the Mirror Harness

• Plug the mirror connector into the door harness until it clicks.
• Route the harness exactly like the original path.
• Use your hands and the small flat-blade screwdriver to secure any harness clips back into the door.
• Make sure the harness cannot contact the window glass or regulator.

Step 13: Test the Mirror Before Reassembly

• Temporarily reconnect the front window switch panel by hand.
• Use a 10mm socket and ratchet handle to reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Turn the ignition ON without starting the engine.
• Use the mirror control switch to test up, down, left, and right adjustment.
• Turn on the rear defroster switch to verify mirror heat if equipped.
• Turn on the hazard lights to verify the mirror turn signal if equipped.
• If equipped, check the Around View Monitor image on the center display.

Step 14: Disconnect Battery Again for Final Reassembly

• Turn the ignition OFF.
• Use a 10mm socket and ratchet handle to disconnect the negative battery cable again.

Step 15: Reinstall the Inner Mirror Corner Trim

• Align the triangular trim cover with its clips.
• Press it straight into place by hand until the clips snap in.
• Do not hit the trim with tools.

Step 16: Reinstall the Door Panel

• Hold the front door panel close to the door.
• Reconnect the inside handle cable by hand.
• Reconnect all electrical connectors until they click.
• Hook the top of the panel over the window ledge.
• Align the clips with the holes in the metal door shell.
• Press around the edges by hand until all clips snap into place.

Step 17: Reinstall Screws and Switch Panel

• Use a Phillips #2 screwdriver or 10mm socket with a ratchet handle to reinstall the door panel screws.
• Tighten screws snug only because the mounts are plastic.
• Reconnect the window switch panel if still unplugged.
• Press the switch panel evenly into the armrest until it snaps in.

Step 18: Final Battery Connection and Feature Check

• Use a 10mm socket and ratchet handle to reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Tighten the battery terminal until it cannot twist by hand.
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Test mirror adjustment, mirror memory if equipped, heat, turn signal, and camera view if equipped.
• Repeat the same process on the opposite side if replacing both mirrors.
