🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the interior handle cover

• Use a plastic trim removal tool to release the small cover surrounding the interior door handle.
• Remove the exposed screw with a Phillips No. 2 screwdriver.
• Use the plastic trim removal tool to lift the armrest or pull-handle cover.
• Remove the second exposed screw with the Phillips No. 2 screwdriver.
• Tape nearby trim to prevent scratches.

Step 2: Detach the rear door trim panel

• Use a plastic trim removal tool between the panel and metal door, beginning at a lower corner.
• Work around the lower and side edges, releasing one retaining clip at a time.

• Release the interior-handle section from the panel.

Step 3: Remove the rear door speaker

Step 5: Remove the rear glass guide and quarter glass

Step 6: Disconnect and remove the window motor

Step 7: Release and remove the movable glass

• Insert one hand through the speaker opening and support the lower edge of the glass.
• Use a 10mm socket to remove the accessible glass-to-regulator fastener.
• Apply several long strips of 50mm painter's tape over the top of the door frame to hold the glass.

• Place the glass upright on a thick towel where it cannot be knocked over.

Step 8: Remove the old regulator

• Use a 10mm socket and extension to remove the regulator mounting bolts.
• Insert your hand through the speaker opening and rotate the regulator drum housing until its retaining tabs release from the door module panel.
• Guide the regulator through the speaker opening without scraping the painted opening or pinching its cable.

Step 9: Install the replacement regulator

• Compare the new and old assemblies outside the door. Confirm the mounting points, electrical connector, cable routing, and glass carrier match.
• Feed the new regulator through the speaker opening.
• Rotate its drum housing into position and engage the retaining tabs completely.
• Start every mounting bolt by hand before using the 10mm socket.
• Tighten the regulator fasteners evenly with the low-range torque wrench to 8-10 Nm (71-89 in-lbs).
• Do not use an impact driver. These small door fasteners and plastic mounts are easy to damage.

Step 10: Install the motor

• If the replacement includes a motor, connect its electrical plug after the assembly is secured.
• If transferring the original motor, hold the regulator drum housing from the speaker opening while aligning the motor drive.
• Start all motor fasteners by hand using the correct socket.
• Tighten the motor fasteners evenly with the low-range torque wrench to 5 Nm (44 in-lbs).
• Do not force a motor that will not sit flush. Recheck drive alignment first.

Step 11: Reinstall and attach the glass

• Wear cut-resistant gloves and lower the movable glass carefully into the door opening.
• Install the fixed quarter glass and rear vertical guide in their original positions.
• Use a 10mm socket to secure the guide fastener without overtightening it.
• Support the movable glass through the speaker opening and align it with the regulator carrier.
• Start the glass fastener by hand, then tighten it with the low-range torque wrench to 8-10 Nm (71-89 in-lbs).
• Confirm the glass sits evenly in the front and rear channels before applying electrical power.

Step 12: Test the regulator before closing the door

• Reconnect the rear window switch connector.
• Use a 10mm socket to reconnect the negative battery terminal.
• Keep hands, tools, and wiring clear of the regulator.
• Switch the ignition on and move the window in short increments.
• Watch for glass tilting, cable noise, binding, or the glass leaving either guide channel.
• Run the window fully down and fully up only after confirming smooth movement.
• Switch off the ignition and use the 10mm socket to disconnect the negative battery again before final assembly.

Step 13: Reseal the door

• Use automotive butyl sealing tape to repair any gaps in the original adhesive.
• Press the moisture barrier firmly around its entire perimeter.
• Keep the door drain openings at the bottom completely unobstructed.
• Reconnect the speaker and install it with the 8mm or 10mm socket.
• Tighten the speaker fasteners evenly until the foam seal is compressed. Do not crush the plastic speaker frame.

Step 14: Reinstall the door trim

• Replace any damaged trim clips before fitting the panel.
• Reconnect the window-switch electrical connector.
• Engage the panel's upper hooks and locating points, following their original orientation.
• Press around the panel perimeter with your palm until every clip snaps into place.
• Install both trim screws with the Phillips No. 2 screwdriver until seated. Do not overtighten them.
• Snap the handle and armrest covers back into position.
• Use the 10mm socket to reconnect the negative battery terminal.
