🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the Tailgate

• Lower the tailgate fully so you can reach the inside edge of each rear lamp.
• Use safety glasses to protect your eyes from dirt around the lamp area.

Step 2: Remove the Driver-Side Tail Lamp Bolts

• Find the two bolts on the inside edge of the driver-side tail lamp.
• Use an 8mm socket and 1/4-inch drive ratchet to remove both bolts.
• Set the bolts in a safe spot where they cannot roll away.
• Tip: Hold the lamp as the last bolt comes out.

Step 3: Remove the Driver-Side Tail Lamp Assembly

• Hold the lamp with both hands.
• Pull the lamp straight rearward away from the truck body.
• Do not pry sideways. The outside edge is held by plastic guide pins.
• If it feels tight, gently wiggle it by hand while pulling straight back.

Step 4: Remove the Rear Turn Signal Bulb Socket

• Look at the back side of the tail lamp assembly.
• Locate the rear turn signal bulb socket. It is the socket for the amber flashing rear signal bulb.
• Use your gloved hand to turn the socket counterclockwise about one-quarter turn.
• Pull the socket straight out of the lamp housing.

Step 5: Replace the Driver-Side Rear Turn Signal Bulb

• Use your gloved hand to pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
• Push the new rear turn signal bulb straight into the socket until it is fully seated.
• If you touch the glass, clean it with a clean microfiber towel.
• Tip: Match the bulb base tabs before pushing.

Step 6: Reinstall the Driver-Side Turn Signal Socket

• Insert the socket back into the tail lamp housing.
• Use your gloved hand to turn the socket clockwise until it locks.
• Make sure the socket sits flat and tight against the lamp housing.

Step 7: Reinstall the Driver-Side Tail Lamp Assembly

• Line up the plastic guide pins with the holes in the truck body.
• Push the lamp straight forward until it sits flush.
• Start both bolts by hand first to avoid damaging the threads.
• Use the 8mm socket and 1/4-inch drive ratchet to tighten the bolts.
• Torque to 6 Nm (53 in-lbs).
• Do not overtighten. The tail lamp housing is plastic.

Step 8: Replace the Passenger-Side Rear Turn Signal Bulb

• Move to the passenger-side tail lamp.
• Use the 8mm socket and 1/4-inch drive ratchet to remove the two inside lamp bolts.
• Pull the lamp straight rearward by hand.
• Use your gloved hand to turn the rear turn signal bulb socket counterclockwise.
• Pull the socket out of the lamp housing.
• Remove the old bulb by pulling it straight out.
• Install the new rear turn signal bulb by pushing it straight into the socket.
• Reinstall the socket by turning it clockwise until locked.
• Reinstall the lamp and tighten the bolts to 6 Nm (53 in-lbs).

Step 9: Test Both Rear Turn Signals

• Turn the ignition to accessory or run position without starting the engine.
• Move the turn signal stalk to the left position and check the left rear signal.
• Move the turn signal stalk to the right position and check the right rear signal.
• Press the hazard switch and confirm both rear signals flash.
• If one side flashes fast or does not flash, turn everything off and recheck that bulb is fully seated.

• ✅ Confirm both rear turn signals flash at a normal speed.
• ✅ Confirm both tail lamp assemblies sit flush with the truck body.
