Your Accordās rear turn signal bulbs sit in the tail lamp housings and can be replaced from inside the trunk. Youāll remove a small trunk liner access area, twist out the bulb socket, swap the bulb, and test the signals.

š Before You Begin
- š Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
- š§° Open the trunk and remove any cargo so you can access the trunk liner.
- š¦ Have a flashlight ready so you can clearly see the bulb socket and tabs.
šØ Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Confirm which bulb is out
- Turn the ignition to ON and use the turn signal stalk to test left and right signals.
- Turn ignition OFF when youāve confirmed which side needs the bulb.
- Fast blinking usually means a bulb is out.
Step 2: Access the rear lamp area inside the trunk
- Open the trunk and locate the trunk liner behind the tail lamp on the side youāre working on.
- Use a trim clip removal tool to pop out any plastic push-clips holding the liner.
- If needed, carefully help the clip center up with a small flathead screwdriver, then remove the clip.
- Fold the trunk liner back to expose the tail lamp bulb sockets.
Step 3: Remove the rear turn signal bulb socket
- Identify the turn signal socket (itās the socket that aligns with the amber turn signal portion of the lamp).
- Unplug the connector by pressing the tab and pulling straight back.
- Twist the bulb socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it out.
- A āsocketā is the plastic holder the bulb locks into.
Step 4: Replace the bulb
- Wear nitrile gloves and pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Push the new 7440A / amber bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
Step 5: Reinstall the socket and reassemble trunk trim
- Reinsert the socket into the housing and twist clockwise until it locks.
- Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks.
- Reposition the trunk liner and reinstall the clips by pressing them in by hand.
Step 6: If you removed any tail lamp mounting nuts (only if needed)
- If you had to loosen/remove tail lamp nuts for access, reinstall them using a 10mm socket and 1/4" ratchet.
- Tighten with a torque wrench (in-lb): Torque to 5 NĀ·m (44 in-lb).
- Snug onlyāovertightening can crack the lamp.
ā After Repair
- š Turn ignition ON and test left and right rear turn signals.
- š Verify the bulb flashes at a normal speed and matches the other sideās brightness.
- š¦ Make sure the trunk liner is secured so it wonāt rattle.
