🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the Driver-Side Wiper Arm

• Use your hand while wearing nitrile gloves to lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
• Place a thick towel on the windshield under the raised arm.
• This protects the glass if the arm slips.
• Keep one hand on the arm.

Step 2: Release the Old Driver-Side Blade

• Use your hand to rotate the old wiper blade so it sits nearly perpendicular to the wiper arm.
• Find the small release tab where the blade connects to the hook.
• Press the release tab with your thumb while sliding the blade down toward the base of the wiper arm.
• The blade will slide out of the hook.

Step 3: Remove the Old Driver-Side Blade

• Use your hand to pull the old blade completely off the hook-style arm.
• Keep the thick towel under the bare arm.
• Do not lower the bare metal arm directly onto the windshield.

Step 4: Install the New Driver-Side Blade

• Use your hand to position the new front wiper blade so the adapter opening faces the hook on the arm.
• Slide the blade up into the hook until it clicks into place.
• Gently tug the blade downward by hand to make sure it is locked.
• No torque spec applies to this repair because no threaded fasteners are removed.
• Listen for the click.

Step 5: Lower the Driver-Side Wiper Arm

• Use your hand to guide the wiper arm back down to the windshield.
• Remove the thick towel only after the new blade is resting on the glass.

Step 6: Replace the Passenger-Side Blade

• Use your hand while wearing nitrile gloves to lift the passenger-side wiper arm.
• Place the thick towel under the raised arm.
• Rotate the old blade, press the release tab by hand, and slide the blade down out of the hook.
• Install the new passenger-side front wiper blade by sliding it into the hook until it clicks.
• Gently tug the blade by hand to confirm it is locked.
• Guide the wiper arm back onto the windshield by hand.

Step 7: Test the Wipers

• Use the washer switch from inside your Ranger to spray washer fluid onto the windshield.
• Turn the wipers on low speed and watch both blades sweep smoothly.
• If a blade skips or chatters, use your hand to confirm the blade is fully locked into the hook.
