📋 Before You Begin

• Park your RAV4 on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
• Make sure the wiper switch is in the OFF position.
• Lift each wiper arm gently away from the windshield until it stays up.
• Place a clean microfiber towel on the windshield under the wiper arm. A microfiber towel is a soft cloth that helps prevent scratches and cushions the glass.
• Identify the driver blade and passenger blade before installing them. The driver side is longer.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the Driver-Side Wiper Arm

• Use your hand with nitrile gloves to lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
• Keep the clean microfiber towel on the glass under the arm.
• Hold the metal wiper arm firmly while working.
• No torque spec applies because this repair uses clip-on wiper blades.
• Never let the bare arm drop.

Step 2: Open the Blade Lock Tab

• Use your fingers to find the small lock tab on the center adapter of the wiper blade.
• The lock tab is the small plastic latch that secures the blade to the wiper arm hook.
• Lift or press the tab open by hand, depending on the replacement blade design.
• If the tab is stiff, use steady finger pressure only; do not pry hard against the plastic.

Step 3: Remove the Driver-Side Wiper Blade

• Hold the metal wiper arm with one hand.
• Use your other hand to slide the wiper blade down toward the base of the arm.
• Once the blade clears the hook, rotate it slightly and remove it from the arm.
• Set the old blade aside away from the windshield.

Step 4: Install the New Driver-Side Wiper Blade

• Use your hands to position the new 26" driver-side front wiper blade with the adapter facing the hook on the wiper arm.
• Slide the blade upward into the hook until it clicks into place.
• Close the lock tab by hand if the blade design uses one.
• Gently tug the blade downward by hand to confirm it is locked.
• A light click means it is seated.

Step 5: Lower the Driver-Side Wiper Arm

• Use your hand to hold the metal wiper arm firmly.
• Remove the clean microfiber towel from under the arm.
• Lower the wiper arm slowly until the new blade rests flat on the windshield.

Step 6: Replace the Passenger-Side Wiper Blade

• Use your hand with nitrile gloves to lift the passenger-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
• Place the clean microfiber towel on the windshield under the arm.
• Open or press the blade lock tab by hand.
• Slide the old blade down and off the hook.
• Install the new 16" passenger-side front wiper blade by sliding it into the hook until it clicks.
• Gently tug the blade by hand to confirm it is locked.
• Remove the clean microfiber towel and lower the arm slowly onto the windshield.

Step 7: Test the New Wipers

• Use the windshield washer spray before running the wipers dry.
• Turn the ignition ON.
• Use the wiper stalk to run the front wipers on low speed for a few passes.
• Check that both blades wipe smoothly and park correctly at the bottom of the windshield.
• If a blade chatters or streaks, use a clean microfiber towel to wipe the rubber edge and windshield glass.
