📋 Before You Begin
- Park your Wrangler on level ground.
- Turn the ignition off and remove the key.
- Make sure the wiper switch is in the off position.
- Place a clean towel on the windshield under the wiper arm area.
- A hook-style wiper arm has a curved “J” end that locks into the plastic adapter on the wiper blade.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the first wiper arm
- Use your hand to lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
- Place a clean towel on the glass under the arm as protection.
- Keep one hand on the arm so it cannot spring back.
Step 2: Rotate the old blade
- Use your hand to rotate the old wiper blade so it sits nearly perpendicular to the wiper arm.
- Look for the small locking tab where the blade adapter meets the hooked end of the arm.
- The locking tab is a small plastic release that keeps the blade from sliding off while driving.
Step 3: Release the old blade
- Use your thumb to press the locking tab on the blade adapter.
- While holding the tab, slide the blade downward toward the base of the wiper arm.
- The hook should come out of the adapter.
- Move slowly to avoid scratching glass.
Step 4: Remove the old blade from the arm
- Use your hand to guide the old blade out of the hook.
- Once removed, carefully lower the bare wiper arm onto the clean towel.
- Do not leave the bare arm standing upright unattended.
Step 5: Prepare the new blade
- Use your hands to remove the new 15" front wiper blade from its packaging.
- Make sure the hook-style adapter is installed on the new blade.
- If the blade includes multiple adapters, use the hook-style adapter that matches the wiper arm.
Step 6: Install the new blade
- Use your hand to slide the new blade adapter into the hooked end of the wiper arm.
- Pull the blade upward into the hook until it clicks into place.
- Gently tug the blade by hand to confirm it is locked.
- A light click means it locked.
Step 7: Lower the wiper arm
- Use your hand to slowly lower the wiper arm and new blade onto the windshield.
- Make sure the rubber edge rests flat against the glass.
- Remove the clean towel from under the arm.
Step 8: Replace the passenger-side blade
- Use the same steps on the passenger-side wiper arm.
- Lift the arm by hand, protect the windshield with the clean towel, and remove the old blade.
- Install the second 15" front wiper blade by sliding it into the hook until it clicks.
- Lower the arm gently back onto the windshield.
Step 9: Test the new wipers
- Use the windshield washer switch to spray washer fluid onto the glass.
- Turn the wipers on briefly using the wiper stalk.
- Watch for smooth wiping with no skipping, streaking, or loose blade movement.
✅ After Repair
- ✅ Confirm both front blades park correctly at the bottom of the windshield.
- ✅ If a blade chatters, clean the windshield and rubber edge with a damp clean towel.
- ✅ If a blade streaks immediately, make sure the protective plastic strip was removed from the rubber edge.
- ✅ No scan tool, coding, or infotainment reset is required for your Wrangler.
