🔩 Required Parts
HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:
- Front wiper blades - Driver: 26", Passenger: 17" - Qty: 2
📋 Before You Begin
- 🅿️ Park your Altima on level ground and turn the ignition off.
- 🧽 Place a clean microfiber towel on the windshield under each wiper arm. This protects the glass if the arm drops.
- 📌 Your Altima uses standard hook-style front wiper arms. The hook is the curved metal end of the wiper arm that locks into the blade.
- ✅ Compare the new blades with the old blades before installing them: longer blade goes on the driver side, shorter blade goes on the passenger side.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the Driver-Side Wiper Arm
- Use your hands to carefully lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays upright.
- Place the clean microfiber towel under the arm on the glass.
- Hold the arm firmly.
Step 2: Find the Release Tab
- Use your fingers to locate the small plastic release tab where the blade connects to the wiper arm hook.
- The release tab is a small latch that unlocks the blade from the arm.
Step 3: Remove the Old Driver-Side Blade
- Use your fingers to press the release tab.
- While holding the tab, slide the blade downward toward the base of the wiper arm.
- Once it clears the hook, pull the blade off the arm.
- Gently lower the bare wiper arm onto the microfiber towel if you need to set it down.
Step 4: Install the New Driver-Side Blade
- Use your hands to line up the new 26" driver-side blade with the hook on the wiper arm.
- Slide the blade adapter into the hook until you hear or feel a click.
- Lightly pull the blade back toward the end of the arm to make sure it is locked.
- No torque spec applies because no bolts are removed.
- A click means locked.
Step 5: Lower the Driver-Side Wiper Arm
- Use your hands to gently lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.
- Do not drop it. Guide it down slowly.
Step 6: Replace the Passenger-Side Blade
- Use your hands to lift the passenger-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
- Place the clean microfiber towel under the arm.
- Use your fingers to press the release tab on the old blade.
- Slide the blade downward out of the hook and remove it.
- Install the new 17" passenger-side blade by sliding it into the hook until it clicks.
- Lightly pull on the blade to confirm it is locked.
- Use your hands to gently lower the arm back onto the windshield.
Step 7: Test the Wipers
- Use the windshield washer switch to wet the glass before testing. Running new blades dry can damage the rubber edge.
- Turn the wipers on low speed and watch both blades sweep smoothly.
- Confirm the blades do not chatter, skip, hit the windshield trim, or come loose.
✅ After Repair
- ✅ Make sure both blades park flat at the bottom of the windshield.
- ✅ Clean the windshield with glass cleaner if the new blades leave streaks.
- ✅ If streaking continues, wipe the rubber blade edges with a damp microfiber towel.
- ✅ Replace both front blades together for the best visibility.
