🔧 Tucson - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
On your Tucson, the front wiper blades clip onto the wiper arms with a small latch. Replacing them restores clear wiping and helps prevent scratching the windshield when the rubber is worn.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Keep the wiper arms from snapping onto the glass; they can crack the windshield.
- ⚠️ Do not run the wipers “dry” on a dusty windshield; rinse first to avoid scratches.
- ⚠️ Use “wiper service position” so the arms clear the hood.

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and turn the vehicle OFF.
- Lay a microfiber towel along the lower edge of the windshield as a cushion.
- Confirm blade lengths by checking the size printed on your current blades/packaging. Match sizes exactly.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Put the wipers in service position
- Turn ignition ON, then turn it OFF.
- Within about 20 seconds, lift the wiper stalk to the MIST (single-wipe) position and hold it for ~2 seconds.
- The wipers should move up and stop partway on the windshield (service position).
Step 2: Lift the wiper arm safely
- Lift one wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Place the microfiber towel under the arm area for protection.
Step 3: Remove the old wiper blade
- Rotate the blade so it’s roughly perpendicular (90°) to the wiper arm.
- Find the small locking tab/latch where the blade connects to the arm.
- Press the latch with your fingers; if it’s stiff, gently help it with the small flat trim tool (a plastic pry tool used to lift clips without damage).
- Slide the blade down and off the hook-style arm.
Step 4: Install the new wiper blade
- Remove the new blade from packaging and confirm it matches the old blade length and connector style.
- Slide the new blade onto the arm’s hook until it clicks/locks.
- Gently tug the blade to confirm it’s fully latched.
Step 5: Repeat for the other side
- Repeat Steps 2–4 on the other front wiper.
Step 6: Return wipers from service position
- Carefully lower both wiper arms back onto the windshield.
- Turn ignition ON and do one quick wipe with the stalk, or simply start the vehicle—wipers should return to their normal parked position.
âś… After Repair
- Test with windshield washer fluid and verify no streaking, skipping, or chattering.
- If you see streaks, clean the glass with washer fluid and wipe with a microfiber towel.
- Re-check both blades are clipped in (no looseness at the connector).
