🔧 Front Windshield Wiper Blades - Replacement

Replacing the front wiper blades on your Sierra is a quick job that takes only a few minutes. The front blades use a standard hook-style arm, so you can swap them without special tools.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.2-0.5 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • Turn the ignition off before starting.
  • Lift one wiper arm at a time so it does not snap back against the glass.
  • Protect the windshield with a towel while the arm is raised.
  • No battery disconnect is required for this repair.

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Safety glasses
  • Gloves
  • Clean towel

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground and set the parking brake.
  • Make sure the wipers are in the parked position.
  • Turn the ignition off and remove the key or fob from the truck.
  • Lay a towel on the glass first.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Lift the first wiper arm

  • Lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
  • Place a clean towel on the windshield under the arm.

Step 2: Remove the old wiper blade

  • Press the small release tab on the blade connector.
  • Slide the blade downward to unhook it from the wiper arm.
  • Keep a firm grip so the arm does not hit the glass.

Step 3: Install the new wiper blade

  • Slide the new blade onto the hook on the wiper arm.
  • Pull it upward until the connector clicks into place.
  • Lightly tug on the blade to make sure it is locked.

Step 4: Lower the first wiper arm

  • Carefully lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.
  • Remove the towel only after the arm is fully seated.

Step 5: Repeat on the passenger side

  • Lift the passenger-side arm and repeat the same removal and installation steps.
  • Make sure both blades are seated the same way.

Step 6: Test the new blades

  • Turn the ignition on and run the wipers with washer fluid.
  • Check that both blades sweep smoothly and clear the glass evenly.

✅ After Repair

  • Test the wipers at low and high speed.
  • Check for streaking, skipping, or chatter.
  • If a blade lifts or chatters, recheck the connector lock and blade alignment.
