🔧 CR-V - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
Replacing both front wiper blades restores clear, streak-free wiping and helps prevent windshield scratches. Your CR-V uses different blade lengths on the driver and passenger sides, so install each blade in the correct position.

- ⚠️ Turn the vehicle completely off before touching the wipers.
- ⚠️ Do not allow a bare metal wiper arm to snap against the windshield.
- ⚠️ Place a folded microfiber towel under the raised arm for protection.
- ⚠️ Battery disconnection is not required.

📋 Before You Begin
- 📋 Park your CR-V on level ground and apply the parking brake.
- 📋 Turn the ignition off and remove the key from the vehicle.
- 📋 Confirm the 26-inch blade is for the driver side and the 18-inch blade is for the passenger side.
- 📋 No infotainment setting, service mode, scan tool, or battery disconnect is needed.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Protect the Windshield
- Put on the nitrile work gloves and safety glasses.
- Use the microfiber detailing towel and place it on the windshield directly below the driver-side blade.
- The towel cushions the glass if the metal arm accidentally falls.
Step 2: Raise the Driver-Side Wiper Arm
- Use your gloved hand to lift the driver-side wiper arm away from the windshield.
- Raise it only until it remains upright without being forced.
- Keep one hand controlling the arm.
Step 3: Release the Old Driver-Side Blade
- Rotate the blade so it sits nearly perpendicular to the wiper arm.
- Use your gloved thumb to press the small locking tab where the blade connects to the arm.
- The locking tab is the plastic clip that prevents the blade from sliding off.
- While holding the tab, slide the blade toward the base of the arm, then guide it free from the arm’s curved hook.
- Carefully lower the bare arm onto the microfiber detailing towel.
Step 4: Install the New Driver-Side Blade
- Use your gloved hands to position the 26-inch blade with its connector beneath the curved hook.
- Guide the hook through the connector opening, then slide the blade toward the outer end of the arm.
- Continue until the locking tab clicks into place.
- Pull lightly on the blade with your gloved hand to verify it is locked.
- No fastener is used, so there is no torque specification.
Step 5: Lower the Driver-Side Blade
- Use one gloved hand to support the wiper arm while removing the microfiber detailing towel with the other hand.
- Slowly lower the blade until the rubber edge rests against the windshield.
- Do not release the arm and let it spring downward.
Step 6: Replace the Passenger-Side Blade
- Move the microfiber detailing towel beneath the passenger-side blade.
- Use your gloved hand to raise the passenger-side arm.
- Press the locking tab, slide the old blade toward the base of the arm, and remove it from the curved hook.
- Use your gloved hands to install the 18-inch blade, sliding it into the hook until it clicks.
- Pull lightly on the blade to confirm it is secure.
- No fastener is used, so there is no torque specification.
- Remove the towel and gently lower the arm onto the windshield.
Step 7: Check Blade Position
- Use your gloved hands to confirm both rubber wiping edges sit flat against the glass.
- Check that neither blade is twisted and both locking tabs are fully seated.
- Remove the microfiber detailing towel from the windshield.
✅ After Repair
- ✅ Start your CR-V and spray windshield-washer fluid.
- ✅ Operate the wipers at low speed for several cycles.
- ✅ Confirm both blades move smoothly without chatter, streaking, looseness, or contact with each other.
- ✅ Stop immediately if a blade shifts, then turn the vehicle off and reseat its connector.
