🔧 Sentra - Front Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
Your Sentra uses conventional hook-style front wiper arms, so replacing the blades does not require tools or a service-menu setting. Replace both blades together if they streak, chatter, split, or leave unwiped areas.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 10-15 minutes
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition off before touching the wiper arms.
- 🛡️ Never release a raised wiper arm without a blade attached; the metal arm can crack the windshield.
- 🔋 Battery disconnection is not required.
🔧 Required Tools
You'll need the following tools for this repair:
- Nitrile-coated work gloves (cut-resistant)
- Safety glasses (ANSI Z87.1-rated)

Replace both front blades as a pair.
📋 Before You Begin
- 🚗 Park your Sentra on level ground, switch off the ignition, and engage the parking brake.
- 🧤 Put on the work gloves and safety glasses.
- 🧼 Use the microfiber towel and windshield cleaner to clean the glass around both blades.
- 📏 Keep the 28-inch blade on the driver side and the 15-inch blade on the passenger side.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Protect the Windshield
- Use the microfiber towel to cover the glass directly beneath the driver-side wiper arm.
- This protects the windshield if the spring-loaded metal arm slips.
Step 2: Raise the Driver-Side Wiper Arm
- Use your gloved hands to lift the driver-side arm away from the windshield until it remains raised.
- Rotate the blade so it sits nearly perpendicular to the arm.
- Hold the arm firmly at all times.
Step 3: Remove the Driver-Side Blade
- Use your gloved thumb to press the small locking tab where the blade meets the curved J-shaped hook.
- A J-hook is the curved end of the wiper arm that holds the blade adapter.
- While holding the tab, use your gloved hands to slide the blade downward toward the base of the arm.
- Move the blade around the open end of the hook and remove it.
- Carefully place the bare arm onto the microfiber towel. Do not let it snap down.
Step 4: Install the 28-Inch Driver Blade
- Use your gloved hands to guide the 28-inch blade adapter into the open end of the J-hook.
- Pull the blade upward into the hook until the locking tab clicks.
- Gently tug the blade with your gloved hands to confirm it is locked.
- Rotate the blade until its rubber edge lies flat against the windshield.
- Use both gloved hands to lower the arm gently onto the glass.
- No fasteners are used, so there is no torque specification.
Step 5: Remove the Passenger-Side Blade
- Use the microfiber towel to cover the glass beneath the passenger-side arm.
- Use your gloved hands to raise the arm and rotate the blade perpendicular to it.
- Press the adapter’s locking tab with your gloved thumb.
- Slide the blade toward the base of the arm, move it around the J-hook, and remove it.
- Keep control of the bare arm with your gloved hand.
Step 6: Install the 15-Inch Passenger Blade
- Use your gloved hands to insert the 15-inch blade adapter into the J-hook.
- Pull the blade into the hook until the locking tab clicks.
- Gently tug the blade to verify that the adapter is secure.
- Rotate the blade flat and carefully lower the arm onto the windshield.
- No fasteners are used, so there is no torque specification.
Step 7: Check Both Installations
- Use your gloved hands to confirm that each blade is fully seated and facing the correct direction.
- Verify that the 28-inch blade is on the driver side and the 15-inch blade is on the passenger side.
- Remove the microfiber towel before operating the wipers.
✅ After Repair
- 💧 Start your Sentra and spray windshield-washer fluid before testing the blades. Never test new blades on dry glass.
- 👀 Run the wipers at low speed and verify that both blades move freely without touching each other or the windshield trim.
- 🔍 Check for streaking, skipping, looseness, or unusual noise.
- 🛑 Switch the wipers off and confirm that both blades return to their normal parked position.
