🔧 CR-V - Front Wiper Blade Replacement
Replacing the front wiper blades restores clear visibility and reduces windshield streaking and chatter. On your CR-V, this is a quick job: you’ll lift each wiper arm, remove the old blade from the hook-style arm, then install the new blade.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 10-20 minutes
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- ⚠️ Support the wiper arm so it doesn’t snap onto the glass (it can crack the windshield).
- ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF before lifting wiper arms.
- ⚠️ Don’t run the wipers “dry” on a dusty windshield; spray washer fluid first.
🔧 Required Tools

đź“‹ Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and turn the ignition OFF.
- Lift one wiper arm at a time.
- Place a clean microfiber towel on the windshield under the arm as a cushion, just in case. Prevents accidental glass damage.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Lift the driver-side wiper arm
- Gently pull the wiper arm away from the windshield until it stays up.
- Lay a clean microfiber towel on the glass under the arm.
Step 2: Remove the old blade from the hook
- Find the “J-hook” where the arm attaches to the blade (it looks like a curved hook).
- Press the small release tab on the blade and slide the blade down and off the hook.
- If the tab is stubborn, use a small flathead screwdriver to gently help press the tab. Don’t pry hard—plastic breaks.
Step 3: Install the new blade
- Make sure the new blade adapter matches the old one (most are J-hook style).
- Slide the new blade onto the hook until you hear/feel a “click.”
- Lightly tug the blade to confirm it’s locked in place.
Step 4: Lower the wiper arm carefully
- Hold the arm with your hand and lower it back onto the windshield gently.
- Remove the clean microfiber towel.
Step 5: Repeat for the passenger-side blade
- Repeat Steps 1–4 on the passenger side.
âś… After Repair
- Turn the ignition ON and test the wipers on LOW.
- Use washer fluid and confirm there’s no streaking, skipping, or loose blade movement.
- If a blade chatters, clean the windshield and blade rubber with a damp clean microfiber towel.
