🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Remove the Front Door Switch Panel

• Use a plastic pry tool to gently lift the front door switch panel from the armrest.
• Use a small flathead screwdriver to press the connector lock tabs, then unplug the window switch connector.
• Set the switch panel somewhere safe so it does not get scratched.
• Tip: Pry slowly to avoid broken tabs.

Step 2: Remove Door Panel Screws

• Use a small flathead screwdriver to remove any small screw covers in the pull handle or door handle area.
• Use a Torx T20 screwdriver or Torx T25 screwdriver to remove the exposed trim screws, depending on the screw head fitted.
• Use a 7mm socket to remove the lower door panel screws if equipped.
• Keep all screws grouped by location so reassembly is easier.

Step 3: Release the Door Trim Panel

• Use a trim panel removal tool at the lower edge of the door panel.
• Pop the plastic retaining clips loose one at a time around the sides and bottom.
• Lift the door panel straight upward to unhook it from the window ledge.
• Hold the panel close to the door while disconnecting remaining wiring.

Step 4: Disconnect Door Cables and Connectors

• Use a small flathead screwdriver to release the door handle cable retainer.
• Disconnect the interior door handle cable from the lever.
• Use a small flathead screwdriver to release any remaining electrical connector locks.
• Place the door panel on a clean blanket to protect the leather and trim.

Step 5: Remove the Speaker and Moisture Barrier

• Use a 7mm socket or 8mm socket to remove the front door speaker screws.
• Unplug the speaker connector and remove the speaker.
• Carefully peel back the plastic moisture barrier using your fingers and a plastic pry tool.
• If the butyl seal stretches or tears, use butyl sealing tape during reassembly.
• Tip: Do not tear the moisture barrier.

Step 6: Support the Window Glass

• Reconnect the window switch temporarily if the battery is still connected and the motor works.
• Move the glass until the glass clamp bolts are visible through the door access openings.
• Turn the ignition off again and use a 10mm socket to disconnect the negative battery cable.
• Use painter’s tape to tape the glass to the upper door frame from both sides of the glass.
• Use at least three long strips of painter’s tape over the top of the door frame.

Step 7: Loosen the Window Glass Clamp Bolts

• Use a 10mm socket to loosen the regulator glass clamp bolts through the access holes.
• Do not fully remove the clamp bolts unless the replacement regulator design requires it.
• Slide the glass upward by hand until it is fully closed.
• Add more painter’s tape to hold the glass securely in the fully raised position.

Step 8: Unplug the Window Motor

• Use a small flathead screwdriver to release the window motor connector lock tab.
• Unplug the window motor connector from the regulator motor.
• Move the harness aside so it will not catch when removing the regulator.

Step 9: Remove the Old Window Regulator

• Use a 10mm socket to remove the regulator rail bolts from the inner door panel.
• Use a 10mm socket to remove the window motor mounting bolts if the motor/regulator is separate.
• Support the regulator with one hand while removing the last bolt.
• Angle the regulator assembly through the large door opening and remove it from the door.
• Tip: Take a photo before removal.

Step 10: Install the New Window Regulator

• Feed the new regulator assembly into the door through the large access opening.
• Align the regulator rails and motor mounting points with the factory holes.
• Start all bolts by hand first to avoid cross-threading.
• Use a 10mm socket to snug the regulator bolts evenly.
• Use a torque wrench and 10mm socket to tighten regulator fasteners to Torque to 10 Nm (89 in-lbs).

Step 11: Attach the Glass to the New Regulator

• Carefully remove only enough painter’s tape to lower the glass by hand.
• Guide the glass into the regulator clamps evenly.
• Make sure the glass sits fully in both clamps and is not tilted.
• Use a torque wrench and 10mm socket to tighten the glass clamp bolts to Torque to 8 Nm (71 in-lbs).
• Reapply painter’s tape lightly until testing is complete.

Step 12: Test Window Operation

• Plug in the window motor connector by hand until it clicks.
• Temporarily reconnect the negative battery cable using a 10mm socket.
• Reconnect the window switch by hand.
• Turn ignition to RUN without starting the engine.
• Operate the window slowly up and down while watching the glass track.
• If the glass binds, stop immediately and loosen the 10mm clamp bolts to realign it.

Step 13: Initialize the Auto-Up/Auto-Down Window

• Use the window switch to lower the glass fully.
• Hold the switch down for 2 extra seconds after the glass reaches the bottom.
• Raise the glass fully.
• Hold the switch up for 2 extra seconds after the glass reaches the top.
• Repeat once if auto-up or auto-down does not work on the first try.

Step 14: Reinstall the Moisture Barrier and Speaker

• Disconnect the negative battery cable again using a 10mm socket before final reassembly.
• Press the moisture barrier back onto the door using your fingers.
• Use butyl sealing tape anywhere the original seal no longer sticks.
• Plug in the speaker connector by hand.
• Use a 7mm socket or 8mm socket to reinstall the speaker screws.
• Use a torque wrench to tighten speaker screws to Torque to 2 Nm (18 in-lbs).

Step 15: Reinstall the Door Trim Panel

• Reconnect the door handle cable by hand and lock its retainer in place.
• Reconnect all electrical connectors by hand until each one clicks.
• Hang the top of the door panel over the window ledge.
• Line up the door panel clips with the holes in the door.
• Press around the edges with your palm until all clips snap in.

Step 16: Reinstall Screws and Switch Panel

• Use a Torx T20 screwdriver or Torx T25 screwdriver to reinstall the handle-area screws.
• Use a 7mm socket to reinstall the lower door panel screws if equipped.
• Tighten trim screws gently to Torque to 2 Nm (18 in-lbs).
• Plug the switch panel connector in by hand.
• Press the switch panel back into the armrest until it snaps flush.

Step 17: Final Battery Connection

• Use a 10mm socket to reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Use a torque wrench and 10mm socket to tighten the battery terminal nut to Torque to 5 Nm (44 in-lbs).
• Turn ignition on and repeat the window initialization if needed.
