🔧 Kicks - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

Your Kicks front turn signal bulb sits in a twist-lock socket on the back of the headlight housing. Replacing it is usually a quick under-hood job: remove the socket, swap the bulb, then test the signal.

Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.3-0.7 hours

⚠️ Safety & Precautions

  • ⚠️ Turn the ignition OFF and remove the key before working near the radiator fans.
  • ⚠️ Let the headlight area cool if the lights were recently on.
  • ⚠️ Don’t touch the glass of a halogen bulb with bare fingers (skin oil can shorten bulb life).
  • ⚠️ If your Kicks has LED turn signals, the bulb may not be serviceable (module replacement differs).

🔧 Required Tools

You'll need the following tools for this repair:

  • Nitrile gloves
  • Flashlight
  • Small flathead screwdriver

🔩 Required Parts

HowToo sells all the parts you need for this repair:

  • Front turn signal bulb (amber, halogen type) - Replace in pairs - Qty: 2

📋 Before You Begin

  • Park on level ground, shift to Park, and set the parking brake.
  • Turn the lights OFF and make sure the turn signal stalk is centered.
  • Open the hood and use a flashlight to see behind the headlight housing.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Confirm which side you’re replacing

  • Turn the ignition ON briefly and switch on that side’s turn signal.
  • Walk around and confirm which front turn signal is out, then turn ignition OFF again.

Step 2: Access the turn signal bulb socket behind the headlight

  • Stand at the front of your Kicks and look behind the headlight on the same side.
  • Use a flashlight to find the turn signal bulb socket (it’s a round socket that twists out of the headlight housing).
  • If a wiring connector blocks your hand, gently move it aside—do not pull on wires.

Step 3: Remove the bulb socket

  • Put on nitrile gloves.
  • Grip the socket and rotate it counterclockwise about a quarter-turn, then pull it straight out.
  • Tip: Twist first, then pull—don’t pry.

Step 4: Remove the old bulb from the socket

  • Pull the bulb straight out of the socket (it’s a push-in type on most Kicks).
  • If it’s stuck, use a small flathead screwdriver very gently to help, but don’t crack the socket.

Step 5: Install the new bulb

  • With nitrile gloves on, push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
  • If you accidentally touch the glass, wipe it with alcohol and let it dry before installing.

Step 6: Reinstall the socket and test

  • Insert the socket back into the headlight housing, then rotate clockwise to lock.
  • Turn ignition ON and test the turn signal and hazard lights.
  • Make sure the bulb flashes at a normal speed (a fast flash usually means a bulb is still out somewhere).

✅ After Repair

  • Verify both front turn signals and both hazards work.
  • Check that the socket is fully locked and the wiring is not rubbing on anything hot or moving.
  • If the new bulb doesn’t light, swap it to the other side to confirm it’s good, then re-check the socket connection.
