🔧 Accord - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement
Your Accord’s front turn signal bulbs sit inside the headlight assemblies. The easiest access is through the front wheel-well liner, so you can swap the bulb without removing the bumper or headlight.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1.0 hours
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- 🛑 Park on level ground, set the parking brake, and use wheel chocks.
- 🛑 Support the car with jack stands before working in the wheel well.
- 🛑 Let the headlight area cool if the lights were on.
- 🛑 Don’t touch the new bulb’s glass with bare fingers (skin oils can shorten bulb life).

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on a flat surface, shift into 1st gear, and set the parking brake.
- Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.
- Turn the steering wheel toward the side you’re working on to create more room in the wheel well.
- Assumption: access is through the wheel-well liner.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Loosen the front wheel lug nuts
- Use a 19mm socket and breaker bar to crack the lug nuts loose about 1/4 turn (do not remove them yet).
Step 2: Lift and support the front corner
- Use a floor jack (rated 2-ton minimum) to lift the front corner you’re working on.
- Set the car onto jack stands (rated 2-ton minimum) before you go into the wheel well.
Step 3: Remove the front wheel
- Remove the lug nuts using a 19mm socket and 3/8" ratchet.
- Pull the wheel off and set it aside.
Step 4: Open the wheel-well liner access
- Use a trim clip removal tool to remove the plastic push clips along the front portion of the liner.
- If equipped with small screws/bolts, remove them using a Phillips screwdriver or 10mm socket with a 3/8" ratchet and 6" socket extension.
- Pull the liner back enough to reach behind the headlight. Only bend it as much as needed.
Step 5: Locate the front turn signal bulb socket
- Use a flashlight to look behind the headlight assembly.
- Find the turn signal socket (it will have a twist-lock base and wiring going into it).
Step 6: Remove the bulb socket
- Grip the socket and twist it counterclockwise by hand, then pull it straight out.
- If it’s tight, use nitrile gloves for extra grip.
Step 7: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new front turn signal bulb (amber) by pushing it straight in until fully seated.
- Do not touch the bulb glass with bare fingers; use nitrile gloves.
Step 8: Reinstall the socket and test
- Insert the socket back into the headlight and twist clockwise until it locks.
- Turn the ignition to ON and test the turn signal and hazards.
- If it doesn’t work, remove the bulb and re-seat it firmly, then re-test.
Step 9: Reinstall the wheel-well liner and wheel
- Reposition the liner and reinstall clips using the trim clip removal tool (and any fasteners using the Phillips screwdriver or 10mm socket).
- Reinstall the wheel and hand-start the lug nuts.
- Lower the car off the jack stands using the floor jack.
- Tighten lug nuts in a star pattern using a 19mm socket and 3/8" ratchet, then final-tighten: Torque to 108 Nm (80 ft-lbs).
✅ After Repair
- Verify the turn signal flash rate is normal on both sides.
- Turn the steering wheel lock-to-lock and confirm the liner isn’t rubbing the tire.
- Do a quick night check to confirm the bulb is bright and amber.
