🔧 Wrangler - Front Turn Signal Bulb Replacement

The front turn signal bulbs on your Wrangler are located in the grille-mounted front park/turn signal lamp housings. You’ll remove the front grille to access the bulb sockets from behind, twist out the socket, replace the bulb, then reinstall everything.

• Set the parking brake.
• Turn the headlights, parking lights, hazards, and ignition off.
• Open the hood and secure it with the hood prop rod.
• A push-pin retainer is a reusable plastic clip that holds the grille in place. It can break if pried too hard.
• A trim removal tool is a plastic pry tool that helps remove clips without scratching paint.

🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions

Follow these steps in order:

Step 1: Open the Hood

• Use your hands to release the hood latches on both sides of the hood.
• Open the hood and place the hood prop rod securely in its slot.
• Put on safety glasses before working around the grille clips.

Step 2: Remove the Upper Grille Retainers

• Look across the top edge of the grille for the plastic push-pin retainers.
• Use a flat trim removal tool to gently lift the center pin of each retainer.
• Use the flat trim removal tool to remove each retainer from the grille.
• Set the retainers aside in order.
• Tip: Lift the center first, then the clip.

Step 3: Release the Lower Grille Clips

• Stand in front of your Wrangler and hold the grille with both hands.
• Use your hands to pull the bottom of the grille straight forward to release the lower snap clips.
• Work from one side to the other. Do not twist the grille.
• Tip: Slow steady pressure works best.

Step 4: Disconnect the Front Turn Signal Lamp Connectors

• Pull the grille forward just enough to reach behind it.
• Use your fingers to press the locking tab on each front turn signal lamp connector.
• Pull the connector straight off the bulb socket.
• Set the grille on a soft surface so it does not scratch.

Step 5: Remove the Turn Signal Bulb Socket

• Find the bulb socket on the back of the front turn signal lamp housing.
• Use your gloved hand to rotate the socket counterclockwise about a quarter turn.
• Pull the socket straight out of the housing.

Step 6: Remove the Old Bulb

• Use nitrile gloves to grip the old bulb.
• Pull the bulb straight out of the socket.
• If it feels stuck, gently wiggle it side to side while pulling.
• Do not squeeze the glass hard.

Step 7: Install the New Bulb

• Use nitrile gloves to handle the new front turn signal bulb.
• Push the new bulb straight into the socket until fully seated.
• Make sure the bulb sits straight and does not feel loose.

Step 8: Reinstall the Bulb Socket

• Insert the bulb socket back into the turn signal lamp housing.
• Use your gloved hand to rotate the socket clockwise about a quarter turn until it locks.
• Tip: The socket should stop firmly.

Step 9: Test the New Bulb Before Reinstalling the Grille

• Reconnect the front turn signal lamp connector by pushing it straight onto the socket until it clicks.
• Turn the ignition to run or accessory.
• Use the turn signal stalk to test the repaired side.
• Turn on the hazard lights to confirm both front turn signals flash.
• Turn the ignition and lights off before continuing.

Step 10: Reinstall the Grille

• Hold the grille with both hands and line it up with the front body opening.
• Make sure both front turn signal lamp connectors are attached before pushing the grille into place.
• Use your hands to press the lower grille clips straight into their mounting holes until they snap in.
• Do not hammer the grille.

Step 11: Reinstall the Upper Grille Retainers

• Use your hands to insert each push-pin retainer into the top grille holes.
• Press the center pin of each retainer down until it sits flush.
• If a retainer is cracked or loose, replace it with a new grille push-pin retainer.

Step 12: Close the Hood

• Use your hand to remove the hood prop rod and clip it back into its holder.
• Lower the hood carefully.
• Secure both hood latches by hand.
