⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Never work under your Sentra while it is supported only by a floor jack; use jack stands on the reinforced front support points.
- Do not loosen the large center nut on top of the strut. It retains a heavily compressed coil spring.

- Support the steering knuckle after disconnecting the strut so the brake hose and CV axle are not stretched.
- Keep your hands away from the space between the strut and steering knuckle while separating them.
- Battery disconnection is not required.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park your Sentra on level, solid ground. Shift into Park or first gear, apply the parking brake, and switch off the ignition.
- Place wheel chocks securely behind both rear tires.
- Verify that each complete assembly is marked for the correct side. Left means driver side; right means passenger side.
- Do not begin if the replacement assembly is held together with temporary shipping restraints or appears damaged.
- Arrange a professional wheel alignment immediately after replacement.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Loosen the Front Wheel Nuts
- Use the 21mm deep socket and 1/2-inch breaker bar to loosen each front wheel nut about one-quarter turn.
- Do not remove the nuts while the tires are still carrying the vehicle’s weight.
Step 2: Raise and Support the Front
- Position the 2-ton floor jack under the front-center lifting point and raise your Sentra.
- Place the 2-ton jack stands beneath the reinforced front side support points, then lower the vehicle onto them.
- Gently push the body to confirm it is stable before working underneath.
- Use the 21mm deep socket and ratchet to remove the wheel nuts and both front wheels.
Step 3: Mark the Original Strut Position
- Use the paint marker to draw alignment marks across the strut flange and steering knuckle.
- These marks help keep the position close enough for the drive to the alignment shop; they do not replace an alignment.
Step 4: Release the Brake Hose and ABS Wire
- Use the flat-blade screwdriver and needle-nose pliers to release the brake-hose retaining clip from the strut bracket.
- Carefully remove the ABS wheel-speed sensor wire from its strut retainers by hand or with the flat-blade screwdriver.
- Do not pull, twist, or hang anything from the brake hose or ABS wire.
Step 5: Disconnect the Stabilizer Link
- Apply penetrating oil to the stabilizer-link nut where the link attaches to the strut.
- Use the 18mm combination wrench and appropriate socket from the listed set to remove the nut while preventing the link stud from turning.
- Swing the link away from the strut without forcing its rubber boots.
- A stabilizer link connects the suspension to the anti-roll bar and may require holding its stud while loosening the nut.
Step 6: Support the Steering Knuckle
- Use mechanic’s wire to support the steering knuckle from a strong body or subframe point.
- Leave enough movement to separate the strut, but do not let the knuckle pull outward on the CV axle.
Step 7: Remove the Strut-to-Knuckle Fasteners
- Apply penetrating oil to the two large lower strut fasteners.
- Use the 21mm and 22mm combination wrenches, 22mm deep socket, and breaker bar as required to remove the two locking nuts.
- Use the brass drift punch and dead-blow hammer to drive the bolts out without damaging their threads.
- Use the 24-inch pry bar only as needed to separate the strut flange from the steering knuckle.
- Keep the supported knuckle upright so the CV axle does not pull from the transmission.
Step 8: Remove the Upper Mount Nuts
- Open the hood and locate the three small nuts surrounding the strut’s center nut.
- Support the strut from below with one hand.
- Use the appropriate socket from the listed set and 3/8-inch ratchet to remove only the three outer upper-mount nuts.
- Do not loosen the large center nut.
- Lower the complete strut assembly carefully through the wheel opening.
Step 9: Install the Complete Strut Assembly
- Compare the old and new assemblies. Confirm that the brake-hose bracket, stabilizer-link bracket, and lower flange face the same directions.
- Guide the new assembly into the strut tower and start all three upper-mount nuts by hand.
- Use the torque wrench and appropriate socket to tighten the upper-mount nuts evenly to 40 Nm (30 ft-lbs).
- Do not use an impact wrench on the upper mount.
Step 10: Attach the Steering Knuckle
- Align the steering knuckle inside the new strut flange using the paint marks as a rough reference.
- Use the brass drift punch to align the holes, then insert both bolts by hand.
- Install new locking nuts and use the 21mm and 22mm tools to snug them.
- Use the torque wrench, 22mm deep socket, and 21mm or 22mm wrench to tighten both fasteners to 177 Nm (131 ft-lbs).
- Start every nut by hand to prevent cross-threading.
Step 11: Reconnect the Stabilizer Link
- Insert the stabilizer-link stud into its bracket and install a new locking nut by hand.
- Use the 18mm combination wrench and appropriate socket to keep the stud from spinning.
- Use the torque wrench and appropriate socket to tighten the nut to 75 Nm (55 ft-lbs).
Step 12: Refit the Brake Hose and ABS Wire
- Place the brake hose into its bracket without twisting it.
- Use the needle-nose pliers to install the retaining clip fully.
- Press the ABS wire into every original retainer by hand.
- Turn the steering from side to side by hand and confirm neither line becomes tight or contacts the tire area.
Step 13: Replace the Opposite Strut
- Repeat Steps 3 through 12 on the other side using the same listed tools and torque specifications.
- Keep left- and right-side assemblies correctly positioned.
Step 14: Reinstall the Wheels
- Install both wheels and start every wheel nut by hand.
- Use the 21mm deep socket and ratchet to snug the nuts in a crisscross pattern.
- Use the floor jack to raise your Sentra slightly, remove the jack stands, and lower it until the tires touch the ground.
- Use the torque wrench and 21mm deep socket to tighten the wheel nuts in a crisscross pattern to 113 Nm (83 ft-lbs).
✅ After Repair
- Inspect both sides and confirm every fastener, brake-hose clip, and ABS-wire retainer is installed.
- Press down firmly on each front corner. The body should rise and settle without clunking.
- Start your Sentra and verify the ABS and stability-control warning lights go out normally.
- Drive slowly in a safe area. Listen for knocking and verify the steering returns smoothly.
- Avoid high speeds and hard braking until a professional four-wheel alignment is completed.
- Have the alignment performed immediately because strut removal changes front camber and toe.
- Recheck wheel-nut torque to 113 Nm (83 ft-lbs) after 80-160 km.
