🔧 Taillight Bulbs - Replacement
Assumption: your Accord has the replaceable rear taillight bulbs, not the LED-only lamp assembly. On this model, the rear bulb access is from inside the trunk, and both sides should be replaced in pairs so the brightness matches.
Difficulty Level: Beginner | Estimated Time: 0.5-1 hour
⚠️ Safety & Precautions
- Turn the lights off and remove the key before starting.
- Let the bulbs cool before touching them.
- Do not touch the glass on halogen bulbs with bare fingers.
- If your rear lamps are LED-only, the bulb cannot be replaced separately and the lamp assembly must be replaced.
- Battery disconnect is not required for this job.

📋 Before You Begin
- Park on level ground and open the trunk.
- Turn the headlight switch fully off.
- Make sure the trunk trim area is clear so you can reach the lamp access covers.
🔨 Step-by-Step Instructions
Follow these steps in order:
Step 1: Open the trunk and expose the rear lamp access
- Open the trunk and look behind the rear side carpet near each taillight.
- Use a trim panel tool to gently pull back the trunk liner or remove any access cover.
- Work slowly to avoid breaking clips.
Step 2: Remove the bulb socket
- Reach behind the taillight housing and locate the bulb socket.
- Use your hand to twist the socket counterclockwise and pull it out.
- If it is tight, use a gloved hand for better grip.
Step 3: Replace the bulb
- Pull the old bulb straight out of the socket.
- Install the new bulb by pushing it in firmly until fully seated.
- Do not force it; the bulb should slide in cleanly.
Step 4: Reinstall the socket
- Line up the socket tabs with the housing.
- Use your hand to twist the socket clockwise until locked.
- Make sure it sits flush and secure.
Step 5: Test the new bulb
- Turn on the parking lights and check both rear lamps.
- Press the brake pedal and confirm the bulbs illuminate properly.
- If one side does not work, remove the socket again and recheck bulb seating.
Step 6: Repeat on the other side
- Use the same process for the opposite taillight.
- Replace both bulbs together so the color and brightness match.
✅ After Repair
- Check tail lights, brake lights, and turn signals from behind the vehicle.
- Make sure the trunk liner and access covers are back in place.
- If a warning light appears, recheck the bulb type and socket fit.
