Step 2: Pull back the trunk side trim to access the taillamp nuts
- Put on nitrile gloves and safety glasses.
- Use the trim clip removal tool to pop out any trunk liner clips near the taillamp area.
- If a clip is stubborn, gently help it with the small flathead screwdriver. Go slow to avoid breaking clips.
Step 3: Remove the outer taillamp assembly
- Use the 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet to remove the taillamp retaining nuts.
- Hold the lamp with one hand while removing the last nut.
- From outside, pull the lamp straight back to release the locating pins.
- Torque to 5 Nm (44 in-lbs) when reinstalling the 10mm nuts.
Step 4: Remove the bulb socket and replace the bulb
- Twist the correct socket counterclockwise by hand and pull it out of the lamp.
- Remove the old bulb by pulling it straight out (push-and-pull style).
- Install the new bulb by pushing it straight in until fully seated.
- Reinsert the socket and twist clockwise until it locks.
Step 5: Reinstall the taillamp and trunk trim
- Line up the lamp pins with the body holes, then push the lamp straight in.
- Install the nuts by hand first (to avoid cross-threading), then tighten with the 10mm socket and 3/8" ratchet.
- Torque to 5 Nm (44 in-lbs).
